52 on Squidoo Biggest Lens Producer in Some Categories
Hey everyone – great news! Someone in the SquidU Forum stated that our 52 on Squidoo group is one of the biggest lens producers in some categories. I am SO proud of you all! It means you’re taking action, you’re setting yourself up for some long-term income (even if it trickles, it’ll add up over time). I wanted to share some important tips to make this challenge the best it can be:
1.) Do enough, not barely enough. I see some skimpy lenses out there – and I want to remind you that while I don’t feel right sharing Craig Kaye’s reasoning from Info Product Killer, since it’s not mine to freely discuss, there’s a REASON I say to write at least five 150-word articles. Trust me – have I ever steered you wrong before?
2.) Be original, please. It helps us maintain the integrity of our group when we publish original content. On page 21 of the free Squidoo challenge guide, I stress the importance of writing unique content, unlike what Craig teaches in IPK. There’s a reason for this, too. If several of you happen to scrape content from the same place to use on your lens, they’ll all be identical and then hard to outrank each other on Google. Plus, it just annoys other Squidoo members and then fingers get pointed at me – and you don’t want me getting blamed for that, do you?
3.) Pictures, please! Some lenses I’ve seen have enough text, but just titles and subtitles – no pretty pictures. Pictures not only break up content, but it gives the reader a more pleasant experience. If you’re focusing on one niche, what I recommend is buying some istockphoto.com SMALLEST images ($1 each) and using them in different orders on your lenses.
4.) Turn off the yucky green links and use Lewis Smile’s Link Building Tool! To turn off the green links, which I’m sorry are just plain ugly and annoying, go to Lens Settings, check the second box, hit Apply and republish the lens. I’m all for helping Squidoo make money too, but the green links really detract from the page IMO. I leave other ads and the discovery tool ON. Use the link building tool graciously provided by Lewis Smile of SquidooCool.com to create your text hyperlinks. It makes them bold, blue and underlined – like a consumer THINKS a link should look!
5.) Don’t ignore the blog post and Ezine Article submission. I know some of you are just doing your lens and then nothing else. SHAME on you. LOL! No, seriously, there’s a reason I want you to have that EZA and blog post pointing at your lens, so git er done. It’s a pain in the butt, but that’s why I mapped out your week like I did. Those of you skimping, but churning out more lenses aren’t going to be as happy as those who took time to do all of the steps like they’re spelled out for you.
6.) Feel free to switch (some) things up! As long as your IPK image comes directly after the introduction and you have at least 5 text articles, I’m happy to tell you that you can stray from the layout I provided. The reason I did the layout is that some people need some extra hand holding, and I added 5 Amazon modules so that Squidoo is given the opportunity to profit from out efforts, too – right along WITH us! But if you want to add a Countdown, a StickyNote, a video, etc., go for it! Just make sure you have:
Introduction
IPK Image
and at least 4 more 150-word articles.
The rest is a blank canvas for you
I hope these tips help – please come to the Facebook group and Tweet me your lens to @TiffanyDow and we can help spread the word about it and offer tips to help!

Thanks for the info Tiffany.
I will admit that I don’t do article submissions. For one very good reason. I am literary challenged. When it comes to blog posts I look at all the article directories and find content I can use. I also use PLR articles where I can find them.
You’re doing a great job!
Hey Bob!
You might be able to find PLR and rewrite it sentence by sentence for your EZA
Or hire a cheap (or new) ghostwriter looking to make a name for themselves.

I had to take a little break with the challenge because my quality was starting to slip. I still have an EZA and blog post to make for my 3rd & 4th lens…but I WILL do it, I promise
I will also start creating lenses again, but maybe not at the one a week rate….LOVE this challenge!
Thanks Tiff – I am loving the challenge. I have to admit – that I only have blog and EZarticles for 3 of my 5 lenses so far – but it’s been fun – and there is a noticible increase in traffic to my blogs as well. Now if I can just add a few “zero’s” to my income from them – it will be great! Thanks for all your leadership in this!
Thanks Tiff! This is a great project, a lot of fun and valuable skill-building. And I know it will make money over time, too!
Thanks for this post, always can use the extra nudge! I’m behind on my EZA and blogging, though I did start an additional blog to take in some of the lens ideas I have. Also bought a couple of photos for the maple syrup lens, and I’m very happy with those.
Tiff – I seem to have missed this challenge. Is it too late to join in the fun? Where do I find the info?
Hi Clare! Jump on in – there IS no late – just start and go for 52 weeks

Thanks for these tips – especially the one about turning off the green links & making your hyperlinks bold & blue, thanks!
Thanks, Tiffany, for saying that it is okay to switch things up a bit which you know is what I am doing with most of my movie lenses. I’ve developed a style that works PLUS now I’ve added your recommendations re links, etc. so hopefully, they’re a great package for my readers (and for my sales.)
Thanks for the tip about green links. I think they are a nuisance
I did a search on “green links in Squidoo lens” and found this page, thank goodness! I’m so glad I learned how to turn those things off. There were at least 10 green links in my lens! How were readers gonna find my affiliate link buried in what seemed like a minefield of green lines? I’m glad I found this blog.
Great! Glad I could help Lisa
