tiffany dowWelcome to my website! This is me to the left – Tiffany Dow. I’m a 41-year old mom of 3 kids (Dylan – 19, Shawn – 12, and Scarlett – 7) – and it’s one of those kids (my middle son) who got me started on the path to Internet Marketing.

When he was born, Shawn had a case of RSV – a respiratory illness. I was working at a bank during the night so my husband could watch him and I could watch him during the day but the second he was diagnosed, I packed up my desk and walked out so I could be his caretaker 24/7.

Shawn’s fine now – but luckily the online thing worked out for me so I never had to go back to the 9-5 grind. I was actually on eBay looking for Jets gear for my husband (he’s stuck here in Cowboy land) and I saw a link that said “services.”

I had no idea what services eBay offered, but it linked me to Elance.com – a freelancer for hire site. I was intrigued and I signed up (because I have a background in journalism) and before long I was the most sought after ghostwriter for Internet Marketers.

I saw a lot of scumbag things happening in my time working for these marketers. Lots of shady practices like intentionally leaving details out to help people learn the ropes (and compete with them)! One marketer gives me a seminar to transcribe and oops – he forgot he taught the group of people how to rip off a ghostwriter – complete with my name tossed into the mix!

That was it. I was D-O-N-E working for others, whether as a freelancer or as an employee.

I HATE working for a boss. Do you? I always felt they took credit for my work or were on some power trip or I wasn’t being compensated enough. I didn’t like asking for a break or having to call in if my kid was sick and worrying if I’d get fired.

But being your own boss is no cake-walk, either. It takes a LOT of drive and determination (no entitled attitude or pity party – no time for that!). You have to manage your own time, hope you make the right decisions and learn from your mistakes along the way.

I do pretty well online. I’m not a seven figure guru, but I do make 6 figures doing something very satisfying to me. I morphed into being a teacher of Internet Marketing when everyone was asking me to create a guide for them about how to use Squidoo. There wasn’t one at the time – and so mine was the first. It was rewarding helping people and interacting with them to learn something.

I was the antithesis of the shady marketers. I detailed every step in my course with both text and pictures. I still do that to this day. I also learned that a help desk is NO way to provide customer service – so I answer every email personally. I get asked to JV with other marketers but I very rarely do – you have to be the absolute most ethical marketer I know for me to consider allowing you into the hearts and minds of my subscribers.

I promise to be 100% transparent with you, guide you in strategies that I know work (because I’ve done it myself), always be available to you personally, and do everything with ethics in mind because I care about your success and personal satisfaction.

How many other marketers do that for their customers? I don’t know of many. But my own mentor, Craig Desorcy, reached out to me and has helped me for years – without asking for one penny in return. I am in tune with what my audience needs because I interact with them her eon the blog and via email.

I’m blunt about what I think is scummy and money appeals less to me than ethics because through ethical marketing, money comes naturally. I can sleep nights knowing I don’t scam people. I do things my kids can be proud of. And I show others that it’s possible to have success without being sleazy, too.

I will admit my faults to you on a regular basis. For example, I get flustered with technical stuff – but I always manage to push through. I am sometimes forced to refocus myself. It’s fun in a way because I never get bored, but I also have to make sure I don’t “flit around” too much.

My business is all about ethical marketing.

Ethics invade every aspect of our marketing. If you overprice for your consumers, it’s unethical. If you leave out information, it’s unethical. If you promote someone just because they promoted for you, regardless of whether it’s good for your subscribers – it’s unethical! If you don’t teach long term techniques and only show people how to game a system before it crashes and burns – it’s unethical. And if you can’t respond to your customers because you’re too busy – it’s unethical.

I don’t know how to do everything. I know how to do a lot, though! And I’m a good teacher. If you need help with something and I don’t know it, I’ll try to help you find out who can show you.

There are two sides to me – the sensitive, funny side and the serious, Honey Badger side. I’m protective of my followers and myself – and I can also get my feelings hurt or laugh about something I’m going through. That’s me, though – being real and not trying to project some “sipping mojitos by the beach” persona. Not my style.

I tend to become good friends with people who are on my list. I chat about personal stuff off and on. Life isn’t all business to me. I want to get to know you – your business, sure – so I can help you – but I also like to know if you’re dealing with burdens or if you’ve been blessed with something wonderful.

We’re not cold robots here, so let’s stop doing business as if we are.

Take a look around. You’ll see that I’ve had some good days and some bad days. Feel free to use the contact form and get in touch with me. It’s not an inconvenience – it’s an honor. I get a lot of happiness out of helping others.

Tiff :)
