For awhile now, I’ve been a member of Magpie. Magpie is a system where advertisers pay people to Tweet. You get paid for click throughs or purchases. I’m persnickety about what ads I approve for Magpie. I have a HUGE list of denials and only a few approvals. And I always reword it to be my own words.

To date, I’ve earned a whopping $19.79 on Magpie. Don’t faint. I know. It’s a ton. I always go check out the site and see if it’s something i would really recommend. And I only let an ad run one every 50 Tweets. (They have it so you can set it for one ad per 5 Tweets all the way up to 1 ad per 200 Tweets).

Then today I heard about Kim Kardashian making $10,000 every time she Tweets – on Adly. Lots of celebrities on using it. So I signed up there too. It logs in and advises you what your payment per tweet should be – I assume based on your number of followers. Mine was $20 per Tweet.

On this site, you pick categories – I chose things like marketing, small business, but also parenting since I often Tweet about such topics and many of my followers are parents, too. It says it will notify me if and when I’m matched with a proper advertiser. You still get final approval over every ad that runs on your Twitter account. And notifying your followers that it’s an ad is something that’s done automatically – unlike Magpie where you can choose to disclose it or not (wonder about those FTC rules for that?).

We’ll see how it pans out – if it does at all. I know it’s a HUGE celebrity portal right now. I went through the list of celebs who have signed up and I’m sure they’ll grow now that Kardashian’s $10k per Tweet numbers are out to the public.

UPDATE: Right after posting this, got my 1st ad to approve or deny. It’s a Nestle ad that sends people to a YouTube video of a gymnast. I get $14 to Tweet it. Fine by me – I approved. Let’s see what happens
