Amazon Conversions, Wealth Making, Traffic, Scatterbrain
Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a great day! I am – feeling much better. Normally, I like to reply to everyone’s comments but I felt like poo the last 2 days so I read and approved but didn’t feel like typing much. It’s been nice because as my 19 yr old son looks for a job, he’s running errands for me. It’s been Heaven having someone go to the grocery store for me, take Honey for her check-up, etc.
Today I want to chat about 4 things as listed in my title.
First, I noticed something interesting on Amazon. Remember how I gave my domain list an enema and deleted a bunch of sites – even if they were making me some money? And remember how I told you I wanted to learn more about Amazon because my conversion rate was like 1.45% or up to 3% and stuff?
Well…now that those sites are gone and all that’s left are my passion sites, my conversion rate is up to about 6%. Much better. And it makes sense. People are buying stuff I truly recommend. Not random reviews I hired ghostwriters to create on products I don’t give a crap about.
Lesson? Truth converts better than “marketing.”
Second – I was listening to Dave Ramsey (LOVE him!) about how you live like no one else right now so that you can LIVE like no one else later. (ie: beans and rice now so you can live in luxury – via cash – later). Anyhoo – he had a great quote I wanted to share that’s so relevant to Internet Marketers.
He said: “Wealth is created in a crock pot, not a microwave.”
Ah that resonates with me so much. It takes time, and years to grow and cultivate a RELIABLE, sustainable income. NOT talking about those “let’s game Google before they shut this down” sleaze tactics.
Just this morning I woke up to an email from someone hoping to launch some profitable Amazon review sites by Christmas. Well that’s about 18 weeks away – it might be earning, but are you relying on that for your whole Christmas? Because it’s going to take Amazon 2 months to pay you – so that means you’d want to get profitable by October, which is only SEVEN weeks away – kind of hard. Better to go hit the pavement and get a J-O-B temporarily an in your spare time, build the online stuff up.
And even then, you know me – affiliate marketing is LAST on my recommendations for earning money fast. Services, then products, THEN affiliate marketing.
This career is for crock pot cookers, not microwavers.
Third on my chat list today is traffic! In addition to Traffic FUEL, I’ve also been given a copy of Michael Ullman’s Traffic 100K Blueprint (because he promised it to me during the A$100K review). And what I thought was sweet is – he knew I wasn’t going to review it. He just gave it to me.
I might mention things here and there whenever I read something I’m doing, but I won’t be reviewing with full on implementation – I’ll skip what I don’t like, FrankenTiff what I sort of like, and take action on what I love. One thing I did like is that he kept his word, he’s been very reachable by all of the consumers, and the product – we all pretty much agree (regarding A$100K) was well written. I was starting to get clicks, etc., until my account got swooped down upon – but we don’t know if that was due to it being in the pharm niche.
And lastly, I’m a complete dork (but then you knew that). I was getting antsy wondering where my branding books were so I log into Amazon and click my orders to track it and….
I realized I’d put them into my cart and forgotten to check out. ROTFLMAO.
Scatterbrained moment. Distracted. Doing too many things at once!
But I HAVE been brainstorming some things I want to do and I’m getting excited!
Okay back to work for moi! Hope y’all have a great weekend !
Tiff
PS – Honey’s being taunted by a squirrel right now who lays down in the shade RIGHT outside of our back doors and stares at her while eating a mini pear. (if you click on the image it opens big so you can see it better)
I have to show you because it’s such a cutie – my son Shawn picks the pears and leaves pears, almonds and water by the hose and the Squirrel comes out, lays in the shade and has a snack.
Drives Honey NUTS!
The squirrel always comes over wagging its tail, eats and then when Honey runs to the window, it runs up a tree, realizes Honey can’t get OUT of the window, and slowly struts back to its spot to resume eating.
Love how it just raises up on its front legs as if she’s not even worth getting up on her hind ones for. Poor Honey.
I had to act VERY scared when she attacked my hand later to reboost her ego!
Share and Enjoy

Tiffany-
Excellent post as usual. That’s an excellent analogy with the slow cooker vs. microwave. Ramsey rocks! If a person truly wants to be successful in the long run it takes time.
I can see why a passion site would convert better. You are putting your heart into it, and it shows through. I am about to get my passion site up and running as well. That is something I’ve wanted to do for some time now.
I won’t be getting much accomplished for the next several days myself. We had a major hail storm here last night. Now I have to deal with insurance; etc. My little Ford Ranger got dinged to death, and my windshield was shattered. My son’s car suffered the same fate.
The north side of my house looks like a war zone, The siding is shot, and we have 6 inches of standing water in the yard-want some for your drought?-lol. I always look at the bright side, it could have been worse. We could have got a tornado like some people did. It’s just what happens when you get hail the size of baseballs. I count my blessings-we have the power back on today. I can work on the computer-yay!
Take care!
Cindi
Ouch! Sorry you had hail damage – no fun!
LOL!
Hey Tiffany –
Sorry about the Scatterbrain moment… it happens to us all from time-to-time.
Just glad you didn’t first send Amazon a nastygram. LOL!
I’m a HUGE Dave Ramsey fan as well…
My wife and I used his Total Money Makeover and Financial Peace University to get completely out of debt about 18 months ago! (other than our mortgage.) WOO-HOOO!
The crock pot quote is brilliant, and that state of mind is such a big part of any long-term success. Folks are too “hot-pocket-microwave-brained” these days….
If I can be of assistance with the branding challenge, do let me know.
Have a great weekend!
Bolaji O.
I’m glad I didn’t send Amazon one either lol!
Congrats for the debt FREEEEEEDOM!!! Did you call it in and scream? I would!
My Amazon conversions are up as well (I only have a few lenses dedicated to a couple of topics). I think it may have to do with certain states trying to collect sales tax, thus driving the affiliates out of business.
Ah this is true too Chris! Didn’t think of that!
I have been slow cooking for years! Food always tastes better in the crock pot. Since my retirement years are already here for me, I need to turn my crock pot up on high.
Been focusing on my PLR site and trying to get that up and running for now. I struggle so with the technical stuff.
I mentioned to you that I would like to start a PLR ATM circle on Google+ but I do not know who the people are that are actually taking action on their PLR store.
I thought it would be a great way to bounce ideas off each other and get help from each other instead of always relying on you to help out.
Maybe some of your PLR ATM members could chime in here on their thoughts.
Anyone who wants to join a PLR ATM circle on G+, reply to this comment and let Denise know so y’all can find each other on Google Plus!
Sign me up! I too have one foot in the retirement pot!
Hi Denise,
That sounds like a great idea. I linked my name to my G+ account (I think).
If you need help with the techie stuff, let me know. I’d be happy to help.
Lena
Helen have added you.
I’m interested Denise, where’s the line forming?
– Bonnie
I would like to join, but G+ is apparently not taking anybody new right now. It was like that the last time I tried, probably last month.
Denise,
I would be very interested in joining a group like that. I think we all struggle with the technical stuff and I have struggled with so much more of it than that! Bouncing ideas off of someone else and sharing ideas with others would be fantastic!
Honestly, I’ve never used Google+, but I’ll try to figure that out in the meantime too. I’ll watch and see how many others are interested.
Great idea Denise!
Denise,
I’d be more than happy to assist with the technical stuff. And being a part of your group would be like another 30-day PLR challenge since we’ll have other PLR folks to keep us accountable in a way!
Hi Denise!
Great idea to form this group! I’d love to be added too!
Thanks Tiff!
That quote from Dave Ramsey is so good because it hits the nail on the head!
Solid content is and always will be king. It’s so true. Without a passion for your subject matter, you’ll burn out and people can tell that in your writing.
Thanks, Tiff!
Hi Denise
You can find me on google + for the circle too.
My worst scatterbrain moment was when we got married and forgot to put film in the camera! We did realize in time to get some photos though.
Ugh Sue – we forgot the video camera! LOL!
Thanks for the kind words, Tiffany – I’m sure I’m not the first to say so, but you’re a Class Act in the truest sense, in an arena where that can be hard to come by.
Michael Ullman
Tiffany,
I was wondering when you were going to post something about the branding books. LOL
I got mine 2 days ago and absolutely love the “Accidental Branding” book. The author uses this “I’m going to tell you like it is approach” that moves me.
I skimmed the other two, but admitting my eyes are glued on the Accidental Branding. I can’t wait to get to the chapter about Craigslist.
Hope you get your books soon! (Crossing fingers)…
– Bonnie
Jealous! LOL! I was so mad at myself Bonnie
I love that tone of voice too.
Hi Tiffany:
Boy, I wish I could get my Amazon conversion rate up to around 6%. That is just fantastic. And you make a great point about creating reviews on something you know. I have not really done that very often. I guess I will have to start. Take Care,
I would like to join this circle. I have much to learn. I will alter that to a lot and a lot more!
Simply on the button that Dave Ramsey guy, I’ve not come across him B4 in the UK (or Sweden… However I read the tease copy of “Total Money Makeover” and I can see exactly why he has sold so many books and has a HUGE following…
Cheers for the share Tiff
“Wealth is created in a crock pot, not a microwave.” …Just love that I wonder how many times I’ll work that into content
I get a lot from this blog. And it is FREE!
Thank you again for the time and effort you put
in to all this.
I guess I am going to have to start telling people that I am related to you. “:)
Bob
Love the Ramsey quote! Gotta add that to my collection
Here’s one I have taped on my screen: “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” – Arthur Ashe
Quick fixes might be tempting but they hardly ever last long (if they work at all) and you’ll have to start from scratch again.
LOL @amazon thing, this happened to me too, but it took me nearly three weeks to notice =)
I’m SO tempted to get the Traffic 100K Blueprint, damn shiny object syndrome! *lol* Will resist!! And get it as a reward once my current project turns profitable.
I love that quote “Wealth is created in a crock pot, not a microwave.” Never heard one that before but it does make sense. Nothing truly rewarding for the long term is done overnight.
That’s so cute about the squirrel – it’s a bit like the cats that walk across fences knowing that the dogs down below can’t get to them!
I love that quote by Dave Ramsay it’s very true. My favourite one is “I will do today what others will not do, so that I can do tomorrow what others cannot do” i.e. I am prepared to work very hard so that I can leave my job, work from home and be financially independent!!
Hi Tiffany, Amazon cut off all affiliates my the state I live in. I had over 100 sites with Amazon products, and probably every plugin every made for Amazon.
Needless to say, I have been distraught about this.
I have had to deleted every site, and in the process of starting over.
I thought Texas was one of the states, that was cut off. Is there anything I can do?
Any input would be appreciated.
Carolyn
Texas is still in limbo but currently working. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Sorry
Someone mentioned setting up a business in another state somehow – look in warriorforum.com
I think it involves getting an online bank account in some state like Nevada, and getting a virtual mailbox there as well-but don’t quote me. I know there is a work around for Amazon.
Hi Tiff,
Love the squirrel, we don’t have them in Australia, but I saw one in London and another in the USA when I visited.I thought they were very cute! LOL
Tiff, this is a little off topic but I just wanted to tell you how Great Sam from DL GUARD is. I just bought DL GUARD and he installed it for me for FREE! Thanks for recommending him…..he is excellent!
Now all I have to do is work out how to get it actually doing its job
( Not a very technical person LOL)
He IS awesome! I’m so glad Di – the squirrels can get very friendly here and come up and put their little hand on yours while they take a pecan from you.
haha tiff. I might have to stop reading the Honey parts as it’s making me want my own dog too much! that’s an awesome story
Some great things in todays post. Loved the ‘crockpot not a microwave’ quote… And it is so true
Also a large LOL about the branding books… so easy done, sounds like something I would do…
I am looking forward to seeing what you have in mind for your Branding Challenge…
Hi Tiffany, I loved the quote you mentioned about Dave Ramsey and what he said: “Wealth is created in a crock pot, not a microwave.” This made me stop and think about how we add things to a crock pot and just let things simmer till its done and then the next day have left overs while adding new things to your dinner to spice up the left overs. I visit the Warrior Forum and read through the discussions and so many times I see postings of how people are looking for fast cash without wanting to put any work into it. I have learned myself when it comes to internet marketing you need to keep adding several different ingredients till you find the right recipe that works well for you.
