Hi everyone! I know you don’t always agree with me. Not just in going off on someone who deserves it, but in simple advice, too. Today there was a thread I read on the Warrior Forum that I completely disagreed with – and I feel sad that some newbies might actually see that thread and take a different course based on the volume of agreement.
I don’t mind disagreeing – even if I was the sole person who had my own opinion. Okay the tread link will be posted at the bottom of this blog post, but let me explain my thoughts.
Someone I don’t know – have no clue who this is – posted that newbie marketers should NEVER do this, so stop trying. The thing they didn’t want newbie marketers to do was:
1. Create a blog about your IM journey and…
2. Be in the IM niche.
Now this guy DID have some awesome advice about not promoting crap – that your reputation can get soiled if you don’t promote good stuff. totally agree with him there.
Because it’s something you’re ACTIVELY doing each and every day. You’re learning and sharing and being real about successes and failures.
Someone else in the thread mentioned how competitive the IM niche is. Not really. You can rank high for a ton of products and keyword phrases. It’s all about the long tail. If you don’t know what long tail keywords are, Google it.
Besides, if you’re blogging regularly, you begin to have some oomph in the search engines and start seeing crawls almost immediately and rankings above the actual product owner in many cases.
I just disagree – I’m not being crappy about it. This guy (and all the others and you guys) are certainly entitled to your opinion, but never say never – because this strategy worked wonders for me and I know you know the kind of community we have here…
It all started from me blogging about my IM journey as a newbie.
I’ll share the link with you, but please understand this isn’t some “fight” I’m asking you to “have my back on” so don’t go in there going off on him for disagreeing with me. I say this out of love because I know a few really sweet people who get defensive for me – this isn’t a fight at all. Just difference of opinions based on personal experiences. He raised a good discussion and I love his ethics about promotion.
Here’s the link to the thread – but I’m curious here, what’s your opinion?
