Blogging With John Chow Review Part 13: 30 Day Action Plan Day 5

Hi everyone! Today I’m continuing on with my Blogging With John Chow review and I’m on day 5 – so hopefully I can do two days in one for today’s review. (Forget it, I couldn’t – day 5 is a handful so don’t try to do two). Let’s jump right in!

Day 5 – Writing From the Start

I love content tutorials. Again, this one has the goals, why it’s important and to do list sections. I like that it’s uniform like that. Ah the goals aren’t what I thought it would be. I normally don’t create my blog posts like this, but I might work on it to achieve the results John does with his blog. There are five to do tasks we have to do. The first one is the one I don’t normally do. I’m a “fly by the seat of my pants” kinda girl. But this is wise. I’m going to do it.  Okay I used this to make it: http://www.pdfcalendar.com/monthly Okay I got my toy site mapped out – remember I already had a 7-day a week plan for it with categories, but now I have each one organized for the coming month. Now to do it for this site, but I plan to remain flexible.

Oh my gosh that was grueling. I had to really think hard for this blog but I did it. And I had about a million (and one) interruptions plus the dishes to do. Whew! Mapped out all of January – 3 blog posts a week (the insightful kind).

Errrrr more tasks! This is so time consuming today.

Wow I just finished. I know you can’t tell here but it took me awhile doing all this. LOL! Here is my result: Experience Is the Achilles Heel of Copycats.

End of Today’s Review

Today’s review of Blogging With John Chow was long but good. I liked it. Perfect for beginners and it even forced me to do some planning – which is good! I can be flexible with it if I need to be. Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s lesson, but I am pooped today!

Tiff ;)

    Hi Tiffany

I am glad I got the John Chow class. It is taking a little longer in the beginning, but I can really see it will pay off later on.

Thanks for adding your tips as you go along with the class – It is very helpful.

    Hi Tiffany,
Just want to bring this to your attention, that your covert messenger doesn’t link to any pate or site that you intended to.

I certainly find that he makes you think about what you’re doing …….. not just bang some arbitrary information up – have a plan and work it. What most people don’t like doing in the set and forget world, which is why not everyone makes a success of it all!

  • Tiff, one tool I’ve found very helpful for me when planning out content for my blogs is WordPress Editorial Calendar. (you can even adjust how many weeks you see at a time inside the dashboard)

It’s a plugin (free) for wordpress that allows you to see scheduled and not scheduled posts on a calendar style layout. You can easily move them around also, so they’ll post on the day of the week that you want.

Writing out ideas is great for me, but when it comes to being able to visually sort what posts go where on the blog’s schedule, this sort of things is invaluable to me.

I think John mentioned that too – maybe not but he has one. I use print outs. I’m a paper girl. But it sounds like a good tool I may have to try.
