Branding Challenge, My Day, PLR Validity, Eating and Angels

Hi everyone! I’m on the upswing! (…and the crowd goes WILD!) – I’m still coughing and icky but feeling better. Scarlett went back to school today too. So today let’s run over a few things:

1. Branding Challenge

Started digging into Branding Yourself by Kyle Lacy and Erik Deckers. I like the way it’s written – kind of conversational, a little dorky, a little smartass. I had it with me in the bubble bath with a highlighter. When I get out, Scarlett’s asking me to read her everything I found highlight worthy. And she wants explanations when I do – do there was a whole mother-daughter teaching moment in there.

I think this is a MUST have for any of you who are too timid about boasting about yourself. You have GOT to move past that or your participation in this challenge we’re going to do won’t be very good. They explain it really well to make you feel better.

Oh and the challenge? It’s going to be month of October! We’ll take Halloween off because I’ll be busy that day. So get ready because October 1st is GO time. I’ll have the report finished by then. I haven’t decided if I’ll leak it a day at a time though so some people can’t halfass it and skip ahead.

2. What’s my day like?

Someone emailed me today saying they’re having trouble time managing. I looked back on a 2009 post of mine here telling what my day was like. Those of you who have been around awhile – remember when I took 3-4 hour naps during the day and stayed awake all night? Egads!

Well now I’m up at 6 on the weekday, working and getting my kids ready, do a 1 hour trek round trip to the school. I come home and start working on whatever I found most pressing on my legal pad of “stuff to do.” Like today I’m writing a 5 page sales letter, 5 PLR articles, and a couple of pages of the branding challenge course. Oh and there’s this blog post of course.

In between all that, I will go to WalMart, go tot he kids’ uniform store for winter outfits, and do carpool all over again. I will also watch Tivo and eat some meals. But see I spread my day out from 6 AM to 9-10 PM. Work a little, do something else.

This is why Scarlett thinks I have no real job – because whenever she walks up and says, “Hold me, Mommy!” I do. Right then – keyboard down, arms filled. It’s what I love most. I’m not strict, either. If I don’t get those 5 PLR articles done today, oh well! I’ll do them tomorrow. But I’m pretty productive.

I now have my TV off when working. I used to have it on but my eyes would wander over.

3. Is PLR Still Valid?

I keep on and keep on seeing this and it makes me giggle every time. I have seen this question for about 5 years now? However long I’ve had my PLR store. Yes…………..IT IS STILL VALID. Quit worrying about Panda, Google, competition, etc. Just do it already! Would I still be cranking out PLR if I wasn’t selling it? Would I have made $10,000 in 48 hours if there were not BUYERS out there?

I think sometimes people are looking for excuses not to pursue something and this is partially their own fears and partially due to the fact so many SOBs have put out “let’s game Google” products that get a smack down and wreak havoc on all your hard work.

I think it’s sooo funny too to read replies like in WF where people were saying nobody buys PLR articles anymore but they might buy eBooks. Oh really? Not my experience. LOL! Articles sell out the gazoo!

Oh well. I’ll let the disbelievers be free to pursue other stuff :) I just hate misinformation because some poor person is going to take them at their word and it’ll be false.

Donut time – one sec!

mmmm nothing like fresh donuts. Chocolate for me, please!

4. Healthy bad eating.

Speaking of donuts…you know what I started doing without thinking about it? Whenever I get a piece of chocolate cake, for example, I found I was also craving fresh fruit. So I put a big glob of fresh strawberries and blueberries over my cake – looked beautiful with the bright red and blue contrast o the chocolate.

My daughter thought this was wonderful and now started doing the same thing. She usually also eats her fruit before the cake, so she’s mostly full.

5. Angel fund

We’re at over $700 now – people keep giving. It’ll take a bit to find the right people to help but we will! I did get a small influx of requests when this happened but I have to weed people out.

Tiff :)

    Hi, Tiffany!

So happy to hear the branding challenge is about to begin! Yipee! That particular book should be delivered to me today. I have already received the other two. Good timing! That will give me a couple of weeks to study up. I will be out of town visiting my granddaughters 3 of those days, but I will have my laptop along for the ride.

You must have had a highlighter in the tub that doesn’t run when things steam up-lol.

Great idea for the healthy bad eating. I have to try and do more of that due to type 2 diabetes.

Awesome news from the angel fund, and I am confident you will find a way to put it to the best use.

    Take care!

  • Time management? Ha! You know that’s an oxymoron. You can’t “manage” time, it manages itself. You can only manage you and your daily tasks. And, some days I really suck in that department.

Afternoon nap? Oh yeah, most days. I also spread my day out from morning til night. As long as it works, it doesn’t matter what time it gets done.

Procrastination? Shiny Object Syndrome? I’m guilty on both accounts. Both are wild beasts that are hard to tame, but it can be done…once in awhile at least.
But, I can also become a work-a-holic and have to tame that beast too. I will work 18 hours a day, not eat right or sleep right and then not only does my health suffer, but I end up in burn out. All vicious cycles.

Glad the Angel Fund is doing so well. That is so cool. I never thought I’d start something so fabulous. It feels awesome to be part of something like that. But, it wouldn’t have happened without you starting the ball rolling with your sale.

If PLR were dead, some of us would be building a store for nothing. LOL. I don’t see that happening. People can get lazy in the writing department, even us writers get lazy with it. That’s what we depend on. ;)

Glad you’re feeling better. Can’t wait for the challenge.

Tiff – I have put my face out there on my website from the beginning but this weekend I made a 15 minute video on how to do one of my recipes from the weekly meal plans I do. So I will be uploading that to Youtube later this week once I get it “edited” (and I do mean that lightly). I was nervous, but then I thought, will I regret this when I am 100 or will I be happy that it was the tipping point in my success? (Positive thinking!) Needless to say, I decided the latter. So I am looking forward to the challenge because I have become convinced that people buy from people they trust and that is the best way to get business and to be a good CEO. Thanks for all you do!

  • Hello Tiff,

Glad you are feeling much better.

I’m in for the branding challenge, but (oh yes, there is a but!) I will be in England for 11 days in October, and I don’t think I’ll be able to get much work done during that time.

Am I still allowed to do the challenge?

    Angel cuddles,

    Sarah

Glad to see that you’ve got a date for the branding challenge. I wondered when it was going to be. I missed the start of the last PLR challenge so I had to play catch-up in order to get lots of content ready to open my PLR store.

You may notice that I now have a link in my name – it’s finally finished! I finished this weekend. I wanted to get it done ready for the branding challenge because I’ve actually never done anything in the IM niche – selling PLR is as close to that as I have ever been. So, now I’ve actually got something that I can brand as myself without having to go under a pseudonym in other niches.

Thanks for the kick up the ass with your fantastic challenges – I wouldn’t have probably even got around to taking action on PLR ATM and getting my store up if it wasn’t for the challenge. I’m sure many people feel the same.
With regards to day structure, I tend to have days where I hardly do anything at all and then I have days like the last week when I was determined to get my store up and running and worked solid the whole week. I put together a short report for subscribers. I had to hold back from making it too long. PL R has been so good to me over the last year or so that I’ve just got so much to say about the ways that it can help to boost your income. I will have to keep putting together short reports with more specifics.

I also keep reading how people are asking if PLR is still valid. To me, it’s more valid that it’s ever been before – even with Panda. It’s not the content that makes the difference really, it’s what you do with it.

Thanks again for giving me (and others) the push we needed to finally take action!

PS> Will you be branding something of your own for the challenge or are you doing something in a different niche?

  • Britt Malka says:

Glad to hear about the challenge. I love challenges.

As for my day, I get up at 7, go to school at 8, get home at 1PM, check mail, eat, do business a bit, until I feel guilty and make my homework for school next day (learning Hebrew). Then more business which is writing articles, eBooks or just forum posts, blog posts, or comments on a few other people’s blogs, like Tiffs, my favourite :) No, I’m not flattering, but like many of you, I always open and read the emails from Tiffany.

    How to find time?

You always have time for something you’re passionate about. If you cannot find time to do what you want, you just don’t want it hard enough. Then do something else, or just let it go.

  • Vanessa says:

Your recent post on PLR was very good Tiff. I have only ever done one article pack so can only measure that against the other packs I sell, which have vids etc. It isn’t really the best thing to do, but it is what it is. :)

I just do my thing as it’s not my main income source. It sure is nice though and I would agree – people should just do it.

    Re: chocolate cake – etc.

I’ve quit smoking this week Tiff, and I’ve reduced my sugar. I’m not being very fun anymore LOL If I say anything mean this week to anyone it’s due to that.

    Vx

P.S That means have more cake for me and keep being lovely (to make up for me not being lovely) :P

  • Hi Tiff,
Great news about the Branding Challenge. I really look forward to it. I also saw the comments regarding “Is PLR still Valid” in the Warrior Forum. Some people don’t really get it. This could be due to the poor content that is out there.

I have just realeasd a couple of new packs so I am glad you could set the record straight. PLR is STILL valid. Hurrah! LoL.

    Have a great day.

    Tiptopcat :)

Regarding “Time Management” – When I was a “worker bee” with a salary position (which means you can work all the ours you want for the same pay = ROFLOL) my boss used to say…

“You have 24 hours in a day… I don’t care which hours you use as long as the job get’s done”.

My work habits changed – I took less breaks and “chatted” less. I was more specific with my employees about what I expected. I had “closed door – don’t bother me – hours”.

I never left my desk cluttered at the end of the day. I always left to-do lists for my employees and myself “dated” with the next days must do’s.

We didn’t have email – cell phones and the like back in the day… I lived without them then, so I can live without them for a few hours a day now.

Really – you can learn to manage your time wisely.

Turning off the T.V. is the very first action I would suggest to anyone. (Tiff has the right idea here :)

If you get a good nights sleep – you won’t need naps. Naps are a luxury – A gift I give myself if I look at my “to-do” list and see that nothing is pressing to be done today.

    I’m just saying….. ;)

  • Alice Coaxum says:

Sounds good about the challenge. Sounds fun and terrifying at the same time if that makes any sense.

That’s nice your daughter was interested in what you were doing.

I had a guy tell me recently that he was interested in joining my affiliate program but that he heard so much negative about PLR that he is scared to sell or use PLR anymore. I think there are a lot of misconceptions going around because of Google changes.

If you start off with crap material then it will be crap but if you are using quality PLR then there is a lot you can do with it and you don’t have to just copy and paste it either, you can make it unique.

I think that PLR is still needed by many so I won’t be giving up my shop.

Love your style of health bad eating .. yum.

  • LindaP says:

    Hi, Tiff,

I am happy you and Scarlett are feeling better.

To manage my time, I used make a quick list of 10 things I want to get done the next day. I gave myself permission to move items to the next day’s list if I couldn’t get to it.

Unfortunately, I was eventually just playing catch up with things I hadn’t been able to get to on previous days, which let new stuff slide, too.

Now, I start the day with three tasks:
    Check my email
    Build 3 to 5 backlinks
Check my rankings on my Squidoo and Google Analytics to see if anything needs tweaked
Do anything I have contracted to get done
Anything else I do, I just add it to the list and mark it out–just like it was on the list all along.

That way, I don’t look back at a long list of things I didn’t accomplish, but instead have a running record of what I did get done. Works better for me, anyway.

  • Thought I had left a comment here and just remembered that I got sidetracked by going to Nathan’s new site to check it out. LOL Story of my life. I tend to start out reading this blog and end up on another and forget the first.

I was out of the house and away from the phone for the whole day. Didn’t get back into the house until about 6pm or so. While I was away from the house, I was reading Connie Green’s book on affiliate marketing. I started working on my emails, especially my affiliate/public domain emails and got lost in the blogs and links within the blogs. During the blogs and links, I made supper and just finished eating supper. I still have to finish my emails and maybe work on my plr site or creating bead patterns for my shop before I go to bed.

Great work you are doing with your lists.

Branding challenge starting in October sounds great.

Fruit with chocolate cake sounds healthy. LOL

    Great about the Angel fund.

  • Bonnie says:

    Hi Tiff!

Such a wonderful post, thank you. I’m looking forward to the branding challenge.

I apologize for not being around as of late.

I’m writing my first special report for my PLR store (thanks to you) and will be uploading that in a day or so, after it simmers.

At least I am writing! :)

Chocolate cake, yummies. The idea to add fruit is a good thing too. Most times when I do this, I eat the fruit and too full to finish off the cake. And trust me, that’s a good thing! :)

  • jan says:

    Hi Tiff
Now you can have your cake and eat it too :) I like that idea of adding the berries to chocolate cake because they do complement one another really well!

Your day is the sort of day that I aim for – except mine will swap partner and cats for kids! Last night I finished at 1.30 am and was heading for bed when my Siamese boy started miaowing at me and walking away (which means I have to follow him) and he wanted a brush because he led me to the mat where I brush them. So feeling very guilty because they have been neglected I gave him a quick brush, and then my girl cat came over because they both love a brush. Having time to do all of those precious things in civilised hours will be priceless.

Really glad to hear that you are both on the mend. I can’t believe your work output while you have been so sick!

  • craig o says:

The badmouthing of plr would go along with the negativity towards other methods, like article marketing, cpa, ppc, backlinking, etc. A lot of it comes from the sellers of wso’s and methods. In their ads or product they’ll write something like “I wrote 1000 articles, made a million backlinks, and only made squat, blah, blah, wah, wah…things have changed…”

THEIR progam works brilliantly of course, lol.
