Chris Farrell Membership Review Part 2

Hi everyone! I left off after reviewing the first of four Beginner videos that the Chris Farrell Membership program provides.  So let’s continue on! I don’t say what the course is exactly but will have commentary about certain good or bad things I see develop – as well as watching it from a marketing perspective.

Second Beginner Video:

I noticed one thing he says that’s wrong – the cost of a hosting account isn’t $10 per DOMAIN. I pay $15 a month to host all of my domains. That’s erroneous because you don’t have to pay per domain name.  Not through HostGator at least! And they have it even cheaper than that but I got a higher level.

Third Beginner Video:

He says NITCH! Not Neesh! Love it :) I thought all proper English speakers over in the UK said neesh. LOVE his advice about choosing niches. He shows good examples. He takes pressure off to go grab a domain and figure out your niche today – a common problem for newbies desperate for cash.

He mentions several resources I had never heard of (see this is why you go through something from the very beginning stages).

Fourth Beginner Video:

Really just another element to guide you with hand holding. This video wasn’t informative, but played a very important part in making you feel connected, cared about, and reassured. Love it. Even at my stage I love it. This guy is a good relationship marketer and someone you WANT to tune into. He delivers honesty about working from home and every detail that you need so far.

From a marketing perspective:

Chris promotes things he believes in – which is good. He has a link below the video to Aweber, so he’s affiliate marketing within the membership without it being spammy or hardsell. I love how he clarifies that it’s his affiliate link. Not hiding anything. Damn! He even offers to give you back his commission if you buy through his affiliate link. LOL! Not sure what the strategy is there – is it just being overly nice in kind of a foot-shooting way? Or does it make him look more honest and we all know most people will gladly let him have the commission for his transparency?

One thing I think needs to be implemented is a “back to previous” link so I can easily click back to go to the previous video.

All videos are anywhere from 4-10 minutes long. Nice easy do-able chunks and I like that because we all have 10 minutes here and there but if a video is 1 hour 30 minutes long, you have to go in and find where you were if you have to leave. That’s annoying, so I like these videos!

Hi Tiff, I’m glad you mentioned the length of his videos. Watching videos for longer than 10 minutes quickly loses my interest.

  • Tiffany, I think I mentioned I had signed up for Chris Farrell almost a year ago. I was pretty diligent in the beginning, and really liked it! You make me want to go back and finish that course. Another example of how many of us sign up for stuff but then don’t see it through. 2012 is about finishing things I start!!!

    Thanks for the review!

  • PS. I also say “NITCH”!!!! We are no longer the knights who say “Neesh”…HAH. :) Wow my first Monty Python reference in a comment!

  • Dave says:

    Hey Tiff

I was a member of Chris’s program a couple of years ago. If I remember correctly, the hosting cost was if you use the hosting that he provides. The idea being that in return he would do some of the work for you in setting things up etc.

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that’s how it worked. Great for newbies to cut down the time needed to get something up online.

Well in that video he said he gives his hosting free. He was saying the hosting cost would normally cost you $10 per domain but with his program. he’s giving you free hosting. But I don’t know anything else than what was said there – maybe there are more specifics with it I haven’t gotten to yet.

      • Dave says:

        Hmmm

I just checked on his site and he does say “free” hosting. Come to think of it, I think it was free as part of the membership before. Sorry – my bad :-(
Still, he does say that it would normally cost $9.95 PER account. As you say, I don’t know where he gets this from as he used Add-on domains??

  • Danny McConnell says:

I think hand holding is an important part of training. To do this stuff you need knowledge and confidence. I often have a hiccup between the start and finish of a project when I lose confidence in what I am doing.

Ps. I say “neesh”, but Mom is English, so I suppose that explains it. (I also say “vaaz”, but that’s from sheer stubbornness).

  • Sounds very good so far. I fear that I call it “nitch” also.

  • eva says:

The “nitch” thing appears to be an American English thing. Some marketers from elsewhere are picking it up probably because there are so many Americans in the marketing scene online and we’ve picked up the habit. But its not only “nitch” – American English is quite different from English everywhere else. We all have different accents but Americans have actually changed the pronunciation and spelling of a multitude of English words. I don’t know why that has happened. After all we all originally came from the same place. It would be interesting to knowhow that happened.
    Cheers Eva

    • Tiffany says:

I know Eva! How funny. Then again it even differs here. My husband say “cah” for “car” – he’s from the North and I’m from the South.

      • Debi J says:

Wait a sec…”cah” is a North EAST thing…those Jersey folks seem to have lost their ‘r’s along the way(says the Midwesterner). ;) Of course the folks I grew up with used to say “sodie” too, but in mom’s house we grew up calling it “soda”. LOL

  • eva says:

Just googled it. Apparently the spelling changes were done deliberately to simplify the spelling. English is constantly changing. I’ve noticed that American spelling is being used here in the Australian media more and more. So English is on the move again. The editor-nerd in me finds this fascinating…

  • Jo Ann says:

I was always impressed with how careful Chris is to take the time to explain things as if you are an absolute beginner, even though he knows some of his students are more advanced.

He doesn’t take anything away from the ‘newcomers’ by taking shortcuts so the more advanced students don’t have to listen to newbie stuff.

The offer to give back his Aweber commission, I believe, is an ingenious marketing move. He only offers one month if I remember correctly, making it look like he’s not really interested in the money.

But he knows that most people will stay on indefinitely and he will collect commissions from them every month (cha-ching).
