Cool People, Branding, PLR, Google Plus

Hey everyone! Trying out a new vlog system today – paid for private, no embed sharing, not even on the site itself control. I want full control on my own blog. Not worrying about backlinks, etc. It’s all about getting the info out without commercials. Watch the video here OR if you’re a reader, scroll below and read! Let me know how the video worked for you compared to the Daily Motion ones! Should be no commercials.

Today’s Thursday – working on my branding challenge! It’s soooo wonderful here today – HIGH of 80! But let’s get right into it.

3 Cool People

Want to give a shout out to Jennifer Ledbetter (potpiegirl) and Peggy Baron both for being such cool people. That’s exactly why – this past couple of days I tried adding an affiliate option for my Halloween WSO and I screwed up!

Peggy figured out WHY I screwed up and helped me know how to correct it. And Jennifer, who had promoted and made quite a few conversions with NO credit, was extremely nice and joking about it! Peggy could have ignored me. Jennifer could have blogged about how crappy it was of me to screw up. Both took the high road and were total sweethearts about it.

SO THANK YOU!!

Luckily, I emailed all of the buyers before I fixed it to find out who they bought from and I think I heard back from almost everyone. I credited Jennifer and am still waiting to credit someone named Selena from PLR-Diva.com – but I can’t find a contact method and I don’t know who she is in my affiliate program, so if you’re reading this – email me!

Another cool person I want to give a shout out to is Bill Parlaman – a part of our community here. He raised out Angel Fund to $865 with a $100 donation. Now that’s not even why I want to say he’s a cool person – because every single $1 donation was such a wonderful, heartfelt thing to do – it’s not the amount.

But what was so sweet is, he got the idea on a day when I gave a shout out to someone else who had donated but he didn’t want his $100 donation to overshadow their giving nature. I just thought that was a very gentlemanly thing to do. It’s like holding a virtual door open and saying, “You first!” I just like considerate people, period. Money, clout, and everything else doesn’t matter. Kindness does.

PLR Happenings

A few things to talk about here.

1. I’m working on 2 packs – an article pack on top hot toys for this year, and an eBook on sustainable living (probably Saturday for this one).

2. Someone named Anthony Aires (?) had a webinar where he was chatting about PLR or something and several people emailed me saying that he or someone on the webinar said, “Tiffany Dow doesn’t do PLR anymore – her Mom does.” Not sure if he meant ghostwriting, or if he was just mistaken and meant to say PLR. Anyway, I do PLR – my Mom took over my ghostwriting client list.

3. Someone created a neat little Craigslist like site called Private Label Rights Junkie – he added some stuff but said to let all you PLR sellers know it’s a place you can list your PLR packs free.

Google Plus

It’s now open to everyone! So go, sign up, get an account, type in Tiffany Dow and find and circle me – I’ll circle you back UNLESS you:

a. Do nothing but promote. Come on, now! Be you, talk about stuff – your weather, what you ate, what you watched, what you think and feel. Be blunt, offend with your point of view – I don’t care – I’ll still follow you.

b. Use a picture of an ecover or something that’s not…you.  I give some leewya for the shy but an ecover, really? No. If I can do ugly on G+, then so can you.

The Branding Challenge!

Oohhhhh. I was too lazy to get my book out of the car so I grabbed Accidental Branding. Love the lightening in a glass jar image. This is the book that my mentor, Craig once told me, “It’s you.” And it is!  This is a book about people who accidentally created major brands but NOT using tradiional marketing and ad campaigns – like Baby Einstein, Burt’s Bees, J Peterman, etc.

Here are some things I love that I’ve read so far:

* Their values remained consistent. They founded it because they were trying to solve their own problem. (Me too! I didn’t know how to launch my own eBook – Craig taught me, I’m a writer, so I now teach others).

* Sweat the small stuff. Now I’m not anal about typos, etc but as far as the product’s value, I always use a guinea pig because it means no small step will be overlooked. Why do I do that? Because I care – I wanted to be DIFFERENT from the marketers who intentionally left out steps.

* Don’t just compete with other brands on price. Soooo pathetic. “I’m gonna get a ghostwriter to create a knock off of a product and then sell it for $10 less.” Zzzzzzzz. That’s not creating a BRAND!

* Pick a fight. Yes! Don’t just be ONE of the ompetitors in a niche – do you have it in you to say “I’m BETTER!? because if not, if you’r ejust creating another “me too” product, you won’t be a hit. Be willing to say you’re right, they’re wrong – you’re better. This litmus tests says whether you have it in you to create a great brand – it shows your level of passion.

* Be unnaturally persistent. Success means you WILL start out slowly and you WILL have significant questioning and self examination along the way.

* Be faithful and build loyalty. We see it all the time – a marketer comes out with a good product, then bends his list subscribers over a barrel to violate them with spam offer after spam offer.  Listen to them.

* Do NOT let coattail riders come along for the ride when you succeed. Because they will come out of the woodwork. I turned down tons of JV offers that could have netted me big money but the offers were NOT the quality I admire, so I would have been a flash in the pan or had a lot of people who had proof that I wasn’t ethical based on those decisions.

* You’ll know you succeeded when you have a raving fan base – don’t try to appeal to everyone, just a few people. So true!

* Dont worry about being small time. The big time companies/marketers with huge budgets? They can’t AFFORD to have anything fail! Imagine running a campaign worth $100,000 or $1 million and it FLOPS!? How stressful! I heard many marketers on the phone with me, up for 18-20 hours straight (no time w/their family), freaking out because of their launches. All for money? No enjoyment? No thanks!

That’s all I’ve read so far – 1 chapter. LOL! Alright I’m off to continue working on stuff.

Let me know how the video worked for you compared to the Daily Motion ones! Should be no commercials.

Tiff :)

LOL heard myself say I highlight in orange (which it looks like to me) then looked and the marker says red. I am truly colorblind. I thought a blue car in our drive for decades was white until my husband said it was light blue. Ugh!

  • Just sent you an email Tiff! It’s my first time using your aff program, so I was a little confused. lol

By the way, can’t wait for the branding challenge to begin!

  • Sue says:

Just want to say that Peggy has helped me out on more than one occasion and it is really nice to see this support within everyone who is trying to sell PLR.

    Thanks!

  • Hey Tiffany :)

Tried to play back the video, but it just doesn’t start. When I click on vimeo, it says “this is a private video”, and I can’t play it, either.

Maybe you can try playing the video when you’re not logged in to vimeo? Seems like it doesn’t work, then. Or is it a country issue?

Anyways :) Great post, just wanted to let you know.

    Greetings

    Tashi

  • Julie says:

Hope you got my email yesterday about this year’s hottest toys for kids. I thought it was appropriate and interesting for the presentations you start doing about this time for Christmas.

  • James Brown says:

    Hi Tiff,

Thanks once again for adding me to your list of ghostwriting sites.
FYI-I contacted a fairly big name in the IM arena. I’ve been on his list for a year and he is one of the good guys…which is rare. I approached him about ghostwriting and he is interested-plus he mentioned sending some people my way for a referral fee. Keeping my fingers crossed.

As for Google+ I have not looked at it all. I’ve been using social media with a dash of success. However since you are on there and seem to be recommending it, I going to check it out and connect there.

Enjoy your weather down there. I like it cold:)
I have my youngest brother-in-law living there, he is Vietnamese and complains about the heat???

  • Zoe says:

Video is fine. Better with no commercials and YOU are in total control. I’ve been holding on to this Google Plus adventure since I did not have a website, but I already have an idea that I’ll be using for the challenge (still nervous about that), so I can blend that in. I mean does it matter if you don’t have a website yet on Google Plus? I got a Facebook account like 2-3 months ago. I don’t use it yet for networking, all I do is stay in touch with some friends & family members. And some are pretty weird (in a fun way though). Well let’s see how much courage I can muster up for this challenge. Thanks Tiff:-)

  • Dave says:

Thanks Tif. I am not familiar with the Squidoo book but I have heard you talk about it. Was it geared to marketers using Squidoo or what? How did the book go viral?

    Dave

  • Jo Ann says:

    Hey Tiffany!

Just wanted to say I love the new video.

    Jo Ann

  • Barb Johnson says:

The video is great! No problems at all.

Thank you for the heads up on yahoo email.

AND I can’t wait to start the branding challenge.

    Barb

  • Desmond says:

Hey Tiff, is it pricey to have that video service? Do you have a limit on videos? Your video was clear and like you said commercial free lol.

  • Alice Coaxum says:

Accidental Branding sounds like a good book. What were the other, I think it was two, branding books you mentioned recently that you were reading?

  • Bonnie says:

    Ahah!

I knew Accidental Branding would be a Tiffany HIT… and I was right! :)

Can’t wait for the branding challenge to get started, I’m so psyched!

    – OMG, thank you for getting rid of the commercial videos. The other day I watched one and right when you were going to divulge something, bam — the video! I was like NO!!!

ROFL, yes it was a day to remember. (Psst, my hair matched the moment too, but we won’t go there!)

  • Anthony (Monetarydreams) says:

Glad to hear the Angel Fund is still growing. I think that it is a wonderful thing to have got started, and I want to say thank you to all who contributed. Also glad to hear about the help you received from Peggy and Jennifer. Potpiegirl (Jennifer) was the very first person I ever purchased a product from in the form of one week marketing, and it was great. I really wish I wouldn’t have lost it lol. Peggy I’m very new with but jumped in on her Become a PLR Writer course. Honestly still haven’t read through it, but it looks good. Anyway, they both seem to be nice, and honest ladies which is so hard to find in the marketing world these days. Sounds like you have some great allies Tiff!

Can’t wait for the branding challenge, and I’m actually doing next weeks homework so I’m ahead with plenty of time to get started. Looking forward to more communication with everyone. Good luck to all!

  • Yes, Peggy Baron rocks! I too am looking forward to the branding challenge. Tiff I am very grateful to you and your work! Thanks!

  • Cindy says:

    Hey Tiff,
Good video and that price seems very reasonable. Mine did freeze a couple of times but your voice kept going. It may be my system cause it has been funky today!
    Hi, Honey!

  • Sam says:

    Hi Tiffany:
Great post today as always. I like the video. Much better then with the commercials. And it is good to see HONEY. Take Care Everyone, Sam

  • Peggy Baron says:

    Hey Tiff,
I’m glad I could help and was relieved the issue was easily figured out. I’m sure you would have done the same for me!

I love that you owned the problem and emailed all your buyers to make it right for your affiliates. That’s the kind of marketer the ‘net needs more of and I’m proud to follow.

    Thanks,
    Peggy
P.S. I could see the video fine too.

  • Rach72 says:

See that’s what I love about the group of leaders that are online today – there are more and more coming together in the spirit of co-operation and networking to complement each other because they can. Everyone wins, from the businesses to the customer. :)

Soooo much better than the sheer balls-out antagonistic competition approach that many marketers/online and offline businesses take.

    Rach

    • Tiffany says:

AND also Rach – no “you scratch my back” either. Peg didn’t say, “Well I’ll help you IF you do this for me…” And Jennifer didn’t say, “Well to make it up for me, you can promote this for me.” They just acted right because it was right.

  • Penny says:

Hi Tiffany. Loved the post, as usual.

Couldn’t get the video to work to save my life though.

I don’t live in the country, I live on the beach, and I usually don’t have trouble. I must have been trying at a busy time of day or something. I am really sad that I missed any chance of seeing Honey! At any rate, I’ll have better luck next time (fingers crossed).

    Enjoy your evening.

  • Agneta says:

Vid shows up nice here. Pretty as usual, our Tiff! :)

Tried to buy a used “Accidental Branding” from Amazon. Not possible.
No eBook. New too costly. Think I’ll emigrate to US. :D

Anyone feeling like throwing in an arm here. I have PayPal… :D

  • jan says:

Hey Tiff, I can’t comment on the videos as I am a reader – except when there is a Honey video or Honey is on your Vlog!!

Good luck to everybody who is undertaking the branding challenge – I’m not doing this one as I just don’t need one more challenge at the moment!!

  • Really enjoyed reading your posts but I could not get the video to play.

  • I’m from New Zealand, so perhaps it is a country thing!

  • Sharon says:

    Hey Tiff,

Thanks for this post; especially loved the point about not minding being small time. I appreciate that. I had my baby a couple of days ago…a really cute little boy. I’m sure he also appreciates that his mom is home with him.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Shirley Horne says:

Hey Tiff, the video worked perfectly. Loved the “Accidental Branding” tips. I am so glad to be starting this the right way with people of integrity. Enjoy the much improved weather!

  • Hey Tiff,

The video worked great here in Connecticut. (-:

You really inspire me. Thanks for putting yourself out there, sharing all you do, and always telling it like it is.

I’m super thankful I found you.
    Have a fun weekend!
    ~Kate
(PS. I’m stoked for the Branding Challenge, too!!)

  • Maureen says:

    Hi Tiffany,

I would use Google+ if only I knew how to. I went to the trouble of buying a WSO on how to use it but the guy that does the videos drives me nuts.

There’s eternal “ummm erh ah” throughout out the videos in fact there’s more of them than anything else, and although it only cost about $17 I did think it would show how to basically make a post so I could do this and not feel like a total idiot.

I have just gone back through the videos before I wrote in here I can’t find a simple this is how you make a post steps but lots of references to Kindle and Mashable and his friends and umm ahh’s so i guess I’ll just have to dither around for awhile.

One day I’ll even find a decent not too old photo and put it on my sites, but that’s another learning curve.

I didn’t have any trouble with Daily Motion until the last 2-3 videos then I started to get ads in the wrong places, this one comes through loud and clear here in the land of Oz.
