Day 1 of Tiffany Dow Being Jobless

So wow I can’t believe I really did it – quit my job to lose weight. LOL! It sounds so crazy, doesn’t it? I heard from SO many people via blog and email and Twitter and other places who were in the same boat BUT…had no way of stopping work. That’s what I want to talk to you about today. I’m going to log in and show you in the above video a few accounts so you can see what I made today – without working at all.

Now one thing to note – I chose 2 out of about 7 of my ClickBank accounts because those were ones that made money TODAY. I have others – some made money yesterday, some last week, etc. But if it hadn’t made money today, I didn’t show it. I show you my PayPal from today only, too.

Why show you this? Because it’s not a guru account. It’s a normal person account. It’s something you can do. It’s feasible. It’s showing you what “residual income” is really all about from the starting point. Today so far, I made $204 and some change. I know that I’ll make more before midnight, though – sales come through all day. I wake up to sales every morning. But that’s over 6 THOUSAND dollars a month – for doing diddly squat.

THIS is why I’m passionate about helping teach others to lay the right foundation for their business. So that you CAN say “take this job and shove it” for 30 days or 1 week or however long to do whatever you need to do – lose weight, take a vacation, care for a sick family member – RELAX – whatever you need. If you have an info product out there, like I teach in Building an eBook Empire, then you HAVE money coming in.  You “make money while you sleep” like the gurus say. And it snowballs.

Remember – this $204 was with me doing NOTHING today. I didn’t promote a single thing to get those sales. And you can have this too – and a whole lot more.

Go get ’em, Girl! I admire your self-dedication.

As you think about your next focus, here’s what I need. If you already have something that addresses it, point me to it.

I, too, am a writer. My strength is in writing procedural steps because that’s what I need when I’m learning something new. I’m much older than you and my attention span isn’t what it used to be.

What I need is a step-by-step instruction in how to put up for sale an ebook.

Pretend I’ve already written it and pretend I already have my website up and running. I just need to know how to offer an ebook so that the user/buyer clicks, pays, downloads. I know how to write the ebook. I know how to create the website. I’m not too good on marketing the website, but that’s a whole different problem. For now, I just want to know how the dickens do i get it up and available for sale/download.

by the way, one of my friends is a big fan of sparksPeople so you’re in good company. I wish you much success with your “sabbatical”

    • Tiffany says:

      Hey Marilyn!

Yes that’s what my guide2ebooks.com teaches. it’s not about the writing part – it’s about what to do to get it online and for sale.
I must be tired because nothing stood out to me as a typo. LOL

Hans – I’m not gone forever – just reworking it and am here if you have questions. Thanks for the compliments!
      Tiff 😉

  • Marilyn Kyd says:

OK. I guess I should have proofed that a little better — I’m a writer, not a proofreader. Gads, it’s horrible. It’s also late. Sorry. Hope you can make sense of it.

  • Tiffany – love your site and have been following you for some time. It takes a TON of guts to do what you’re doing. And to be comfortable enough to share this with others, especially an internet audience. Good luck to you. We will be rooting for you and hoping everything turns out well for you. stay focused and stick to your plan..and we can’t wait to see your positive progress!

  • bernie says:

    Go for it Tiff!

It’s a big step, but one that you will not regret.

I made the same decision in March 2008.

After spending 20 years in IT and running a programming team I decided to chuck it in to try my hand at making money online.

Has it worked out, well, lets say that the pay is a lot less, but my stress levels are zero and I get to spend more time with my daughter and I get to pick the hours I work.

So in a way, yes it has worked out for me so far.

Good Luck and I look forward to reading more of your posts.

    • Tiffany says:

Frankie and Chuck – thank you! I’m making it my oyster right? 🙂

Bernie – Hey I sure would agree that less stress and getting the perk of spending more time with your family is well worth the pay cut. And don’t worry, if you’re making enough to get by, then you can definitely just grow it and make a lot more.

  • Congrats Tiffany. Way to take control of your life! Bear hugs, Frankie

  • Alex Sysoef says:

    Congratulations Tiffany!

It is a drastic step you took but with your writing talent you will be able to easily pull it off! Not to mention it is a lot easier to blog on a topic you are passionate about.

BTW, if interested I can explain how to integrate aweber blog broadcast as an eZine – that will help you send your blog updates to people on regular schedule. I have described it in my post here: http://www.howtospoter.com/money-making/blog-income/want-to-make-more-money-blogging-broadcast-your-blog but if interested, I can help more via email!

  • Ken Sellers says:

    Hey Tiff,

Good luck on your weight loss, you don’t need a PHD to do it.

“Calories In Calories Out” knock off 1000 calories a day should do the trick.

    • Tiffany says:

Cheryl – thank you for the tip about foreseeing what my business will look like in the end. I’m going to do that!
Alex – thank you. It IS drastic but I think it will pay off. Thank you for the tip! I’m going to go read that now.
Ken – I agree, right? Calories and for me – MOVEMENT! I can’t wait to update y’all about today…
Marc – I think it will help a lot of people, me being jobless for 30 days. Ack! Where’s my wet noodle? Get that list built, baby! Even if you’re an affiliate only – LIST = More $ Thanks for the support 🙂

  • Marc says:

    Hi Tiffany,

I’m looking forward to more of your ‘jobless’ posts. I’m struggling to find time to do my daily jogging and piano practice and get a niche blog network set up before my savings runs out. 12 to 14 hour days in front of my computer isn’t fun.

I’ve focused on blogs that are monetized with affiliate products. No list and no products of my own. I’m reconsidering this approach but I’m still not sure.

Your choice of health before job is the right decision.

    Marc

  • Tiff,

Even when you’re not working you’re inspiring me. $6000.00 a month would be enough for my husband and I to take our brick & mortar biz and shove it. We wouldn’t have rent on the building or 2 electric bills, 2 heating bills, phone bills, etc. So our expenses would be cut in half.

What a great way to start out my Friday Morning. Thank you. I started out tired and kinda depressed this morning and you just lifted me right out of it.

My wish for you is that you find the inspiration you need to keep your spirits up during your journey to better health and lesser weight, that you inspire in others.

  • Allyson says:

    Tiff…
Got your email and saw your video. I think what you’re doing is marvelous – not only for you but for those of us (like me) who look for your emails, offers, tidbits, etc. Helping yourself and taking care of yourself better enables you to move forward to caring for others – whether it’s in your personal life or business life.
    God Bless.

  • T.M. Harris says:

Tiffany, I’ve been following you for a long, long time. I’m actually glad for you that you’re able to just say **** it and walk away from your ‘job’ for a while to reinvent yourself.

There are many people in this industry who would KILL for that opportunity right now.

It’s like I said to a good chunk of my long-time email subscribers yesterday…

It’s a BUSINESS when you can step away from it and still make money. It’s a JOB when you have to work at it everyday just to pull a buck.

What you exhibit, Tiffany, is a classic example of a BUSINESS…not a JOB like you say you have.

You’re able to walk away, and still have evanescent profits continue to accumulate. I can guarantee you that there are hundreds of other marketers who will visit this page, and still have to stay glued to the computer screen, gaining carpal tunnels syndrome just to make a dollar.

In my opinion, I think you need to teach people how to set up a BUSINESS that they’ll be able to simply walk away from at will, and still be able to accumulate profit.

May God bless you, Tiff. And by the way, good luck with losing the weight. I think you look fine as it is…but hey, if you’re happy losing the weight, that’s all that matters 🙂

    Hi Tiffany,
I LOVE IT! Taking time off for yourself and being able to afford it. I am looking for inspiration and your video this morning has got me thinking about directions in my own life.

Maybe taking time for oneself is more important than we think. 30 days or 30 minutes.

I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss process (I’d be healthier if I lost 50 to 70 pounds). Nothing is easier than losing weight, but nothing is harder than losing weight.

  • Jackie Ulmer says:

Tiffany, thanks for your authenticity and good luck in your 30 day journey. Can’t wait to see the “new you” and thanks for making it so real!

It takes some time and dedication in the beginning to develop a business that sustains itself and creates that residual income, allowing one to truly have freedom. It’s so worth it.

It also takes time to develop ourselves and create the “me” we want to be! All good things take time!

    EXPECT Success!

    Jackie Ulmer

    • Tiffany says:

TM – I have known you for a long time now too 🙂 I love the way you put it – about the business versus a JOB. You’re right. THIS is what I want to teach people. Thanks re: my looks 🙂 I don’t think I’m ugly or anything, just too darned fat to feel good!

Bob – I love how this video got a lot of people thinking and inspired. It served its intended purpose! Yes, 30 mins or 30 days – whatever you can give yourself. True too re: losing weight. It’s easy and hard. Hard mentally i think for me. LOL

Jackie – You’re welcome! You and TM are on the same page re: building a business. I’ll have to talk about that today in the video for those who didn’t catch it. Thank you for the post!

Stuart – I probably could and who knows, I might! LOL But 30 sounded good to me. It’s what I prepaid in regards to bills, etc. And you’re right – I’m an IM addict admittedly.

Laura – awww, thank you! I love the post you wrote – that sounds awesome! I wish everyone could experience that feeling.

  • Hi Tiffany…all the best over the next 29 days. Looks like you could even take more than 30 days off!!..but I think you’ll start to miss the fun of doing the net biz.

    Best wishes.

Hey Tiffany! I didn’t have time to write yesterday but wanted to drop a note today…

    a) You are beautiful. Inside and out. I know – I have read your works for years now.

    b) Bravo on your current quest! I once wrote a personal post titled “Laura Childs has not held a job for 12 years, has not been a burden to society and has never lived off the sweat of her husband’s brow…” and I owe it all to the internet, some sleepless nights and a plan.

Glad you’re showing people how it can be done – openly and honestly.

    Laura

  • Great video Tiff!

I love that you gave us an undate on your treadmill time. You know we are all here to support you and hold you accountable to your goals 🙂

In addition to the treadmill have you thought about doing Pilates? A friend of mine lost over 50 pounds over about a 4 month process by combining her treadmill with a Pilates video workout daily. I can’t say that I’ve tried it myself, but it worked for her and everytime I want to drop some weight she nudges me with her “Pilates, pilates, pilates” mantra.

    Focusing on your success,
    Susan

  • Leonard says:

    Hello Tiffany
Not sure how I got on your list but have enjoyed the refreshing uptake. Although my primary company works with offline small business owners and professionals it allows me the freedom to work with noobs who are trying to get started on the Internet.

I agree too many gurus out there taking advantage of the inexperienced. Stealing their dreams. They make it more complicated than it really is. Then again without all the “smoke and mirrors” they probably wouldn’t be in business very long. 8)

Anyway, congrats on helping others produce a product they can sell themselves.

    –Leonard
P.S. Might I recommend that you place an audio with your ebook or perhaps video to increase the value? Some people can learn by reading others learn my listening and still others learn better by watching. I do this with my products. This can easily increase your product value to $97. Just a thought.

    • Tiffany says:

Susan – thank you! Ha! I know you’ll hold me accountable 🙂 I hope so! I haven’t tried pilates yet. Zumba was a nightmare – waste of $70 for the DVDs but my mom will love them – she takes classes on it. I’ll check out the pilates. And you drop weight? pffft! You’d blow away with the wind!!

Leonard – Well I’m not sure how you got there either. LOL But if you like it, stick around! I agree re: audio and video. I need to do that – maybe part of my reinvention!?

  • Scott says:

    Tiffany,
Good for you. Your life changing decision will certainly not be an easy road. However from what I have read of you and your determination building your business, you will breeze through.

Do you think you may have some catch up to do when you get back? I mean to raise your income to the level you have now.

    • Tiffany says:

Scott – I don’t think I’ll play catch up because remember, I prepaid my August bills. So I’m already ahead. I’ll just pick up where I left off 🙂

Andrew – I agree Andrew! I’m a lucky girl but I worked for it – I want to teach others to do it, too.

Katherine – Exactly! I just needed a big jumpstart with full focus. Good luck to you, too!

Scott – thank you for the prayers. I’ll need em!

  • Andrew says:

Hey good luck to your efforts. Hope all works the way you plan.

You are so right, its so great having a business online that affords the opportunity for self time.

  • Katherine says:

I think you’re smart to approach your weight loss journey this way, at least at the beginning. The first thirty days are often the toughest because that’s when you establish healthy habits. Weight loss is a work in progress for me as well. 🙂

  • Scott Thrall says:

    Good for you Tiffany

My prayers are with you for your success. Obviously this is very important for you on many levels.

It is wonderful that your business has afforded you the ability to take the time.

You also have hinted at a good business point, many times we get so diversified it is impossible to keep track of what we are doing. Then our entire business fails. Focus reallly should be part of our business plan.

Good luck to you Tiffany, see ya when you get back full steam

  • Georjina says:

    Hey Tiffany,
Now when the neighbors see you “out and about” during the day, you can tell them you’ve been down-sized for 30 days! hee-hee

    Got for it.

    • Tiffany says:

Georjina – LOL! If I continue making money and tell them I’m jobless, they may think I’m a drug dealer or something. LOL

Ray – Wow! You really succeeded. I hope I’m a success story at the end of 30 days – and by that I mean have developed good habits, not 100 pounds lighter. LOL Oh, and on the guru shots – I know some of them DO make bank every day but it sure makes the rest of the world feel like they’ll never get there, doesn’t it? If you see $204 a day – it’s doable! And when I work, it’s even more! I just wanted to show what my autopilot, no work income looks like. Gurus throw around the phrase “residual income” all the time – but this is real – and I wanted my list to have a look at mine.

  • Ray says:

    Hey Tiff 🙂

I applaud you for making this decision and I’m rooting for you to have good success with your weight loss plan.

I know what it’s like. A few years back I went from 210 lbs. to 249 lbs. I really didn’t like the way I looked, so I set a goal to get myself back down to 210 lbs. in 6 months. I focused on what I ate, how I ate & working out. I wound up beating my goal – I weighed 205 lbs. at the end of the 6 months.

I’m sharing this with you to let you know that if I can do it … you can do it too, Tiff.

Oh yeah, the $204 w/o lifting a finger is a very nice ‘real marketer’s’ pay day and far more credible than those screen shots certain ‘gurus’ show on their slick sales pages. 😉

Wishing you all the best, Tiff!

    Ray

  • Judy says:

    Tiffany,

I’ve bought one of your products and have read your e-mails daily, and it’s really great to see you live in this video. I so completely support you in your 30-day project! I lost 60 pounds and have to continue to make it a priority to take care of myself. You won’t regret the time you put into you!

There are a lot of marketers out there trying to sell all manner of stuff. I ignore most of them. But somehow you seemed different, and now I think I was right in that assessment.

I, along with many others, will be here cheering you along in these 30 days.

  • Go for it Girl…you have the attitude, dedication and focus to achieve what you want…you have already proven that.

    Hello Tiff!

Wow, where have I been hiding? I was just cleaning up my emails when I saw your email re this post and I was SHOCKED to say the least! Then my shock turned to AWE and I COMMEND YOU for being a living example to all of us that we all have CHOICES! That if we do our due diligence now, we too will have the same choices that is now available to you! You continue to be an inspiration to me and to soooo many! I miss you already but at the same time, I do know that you’re just there taking a short hiatus – getting stronger, gaining more momentum more experience so you will have more to share from your heart! I pray for God to continue to bless you, your family and all the many lives you continue to touch!

    With Love and Respect,

    Emma 😉
