For All You “I Don’t Have Time” People

I hear from many people who still have to work the daily 8-5 grind and while they email me asking for advice, when I tell them what needs to be done, they say they don’t have time and how ELSE can they do it? Rome wasn’t built in a day – slow down! I have an inspiring person to write about today who might make you rethink your time strategy.

Awhile back a guy named Richard emailed me. He’s an independent trucker, always on the road, and as you know, you can’t always get good wifi connections when you’re traveling. But today, after about a dozen emails back and forth over the weeks, Richard has his first blog page up (it’s empty for now, so I’ll link to it later when you have some content to read and share). I am so proud of him – he emailed me first about his niche ideas. He’s wanting something to provide income for when he retires off the road.

My dad was a traveling insurance salesman, so I know how important this is. Richard had some great ideas about his passions – travel. Richard has had to take more time to learn because of unusual circumstances. For example, here’s a snippet of one email: “It is difficult to move ahead when I am on the road driving. Where I was parked in Virginia on Mon. and Tue. the reception for my wireless card was minimal. On your Tue. video it took nearly an hour and a half to get the 7 minute video.”

Most people would simply throw their hands in the air and give up. Not Richard.

Whenever he ran into an obstacle, he ended his email by saying this: “When a person starts from the very bottom, there is no where to go but up.”

Richard has no time. He works from the cab of his truck while parked along the road somewhere. He often has a very bad Internet connection, but yet he’s working on it. It may take longer, he may have to deal with more annoyances, but he hasn’t quit. He’s kept a positive attitude and I admire that.

It’s what’s going to make him a big online success story someday.

    Hi Tiff,

I love this post because I, too, am an an independent trucker. You know the saying, “You don’t know someone’s life until you have walked in their shoes”? (I am paraphrasing, LOL) Anyway, I am walking in shoes right now. It is difficult to do much after dealing with all of the stress involved with driving a truck, but like Richard, I am determined to become a success. I have always been a very determined person and even though I am very tired after being on the road, (I try to be home every day because we have young children)I try to find time everyday to do something with my internet marketing business. Even if it is as much as seeing what interesting valuable information you have to offer for the day.

Ironically I live in Virginia so I know exactly what he experiences with internet connectivity. Anyway, I feel the same as he does: When you are at the bottom, there is nowhere else to go but up.

Richard is an inspiration and knowing that I am not the only trucker out there trying to make it in the internet marketing arena is reassuring that it can be done.

Thanks to Richard and to you Tiffany. You, too, are truly an inspiration to those of us just starting out. I have spent a lot of time “learning” and find you to be a valuable teacher and inspiration.

I hope to one day share my success story with you!

    Thanks again,

    Anthony

I just came across this post. When I was driving over-the-road I tried to do some affiliate marketing in my ‘parked time.’

My hat is off to Richard. The frustrations and distractions drove me to want to turn my laptop into a Frisbee!

Like you suggest, with his drive and ambition, he will do quite well thank you very much.

Way to go Richard! Looking forward to hearing about his blog when it’s got some content on it.

I always maintain that the successful ones aren’t necessarily the most talented, but rather the most stubborn!
