How Will Google Caffeine Change Your SERP Rankings?
I like the name – Google Caffeine. It sounds like a search engine all amped up for the day. Here’s what I have heard about it, but unless you’re a Google employee, no one can confirm nor deny this information.
Google Caffeine is going to be the new and improved (?) way that Google indexes websites. Apparently, backlinks aren’t going to count for as much as they once did – unless it’s a social bookmark link (in other words, goodbye link buying). But outgoing links and broken links will matter – and can hurt you if you’re linking to bad neighborhoods.
Supposedly, the speed with which your site loads will come into play in your rankings. Other factors that will be important according to many bloggers who are gossiping about Google Caffeine are: unique and quality content, solid navigation ability, and then some analytics numbers like bounce rate, traffic stats, time spent on page, etc.
Now this is what others say. Personally, I don’t try to speculate. I simply put up a website using common sense tactics. Those are:
1.) I use keywords in the titles, URL and content. Without keywords, how are people supposed to find you?
2.) I use quality content. Whether it’s unique or PLR, I make sure it’s top notch. I don’t just want the click through. I want someone to spread my links to others and bookmark my pages to come back later because what they found was helpful or valuable to them.
3.) I don’t use black hat link tactics. Or gray. Or even off white. I simply let people link to me if they think I’m worthy. SO not PC in the marketing world, I know. I should be AGGRESSIVE and RABID in my SERP-building, right?
Personally, I think if you take an ethical stance in your blogging or website building and just continue churning out great stuff, it’ll happen for you naturally.
That’s what I’ll continue to do.
