Just Bought One Week Marketing to Review

I keep an eye out for products my own subscribers mention that they bought or have used. When a name reappears, I buy it and see if it’s worth recommending to my subscribers. I’m sure many of you are going to know who I’m about to review next – she’s known as Pot Pie Girl (Jennifer) and the reason she came on my radar is because she started selling some Squidoo guides awhile back I think. Forgive me if I’m not fully right on that – I’ve heard her name tossed around in Squidoo circles and it’s possible she’s corresponded with me in the past, although Jennifer is a common name and I can’t say for sure since I personally respond to so many people. At the very least I can guarantee she’s not some close friend of mine online and I am not in any JV circles with her, etc.

Anyway, I kept hearing about One Week Marketing. I don’t really like to approach a marketer and ask for a free review copy because then they assume it’s going to be a glowing review – and you know me – that’s not how it works. I like to provide an unbiased, real consumer review, so I shell out the same bucks you would have to. See my receipt here (I cut out the order # so that no one could mess with her asking for a refund, etc – and Lambert is my maiden name, FYI):

OWM

Okay – so I bought the premium version because I wanted to see the maximum benefit I could get out of her course. It all went smooth from the order process. I was taken to a download page where I downloaded the One Week Marketing guide, an upgrade bonus bundle, something about 1,000 visitors a month, and some more stuff about using her blogs or something. I was told to opt into her newsletter or I wouldn’t get some additional bonus tips, so I did that.

No news to report yet – I’m going to go through this baby step by step and take you along for the ride. Sound good? If you have any likes or dislikes about Pot Pie Girl’s One Week Marketing product, feel free to sound off here. I’m going to be 100% honest about what I like and don’t like, too. I’d love it if someone did that for my eBook because then I’d get to go in and alter anything I was lacking in if I agreed ;)

Stay tuned!
Tiff ;)

PS – I included the link to her site above, and I did use an affiliate link (well hey I’m a marketer), but it’s not yet an endorsement of her product, so if you order, do it at your own risk and don’t blame me till I report back to you.

Here’s my problem. I look at her sales page. First, I don’t believe for a minute she made the money she claims she did. That’s the oldest tag line in the book. Second, she violates my first rule for a sales letter. It’s WAY TOO LONG!!!!
If you can’t tell me in one page what the product does, I’m not interested. Thirdly, don’t put all those bogus testimonials on the page. It’s pretty well known that most people make those up.

I have subscribed to her newsletter and haven’t seen much that isn’t the same old rehash that every one uses.

And That’s my opinion on that :)

Here’s a question, not specific to her product or site: when did $7 and $27 and $77 become the new $9.95 and $29.95 and $99.95, etc. etc? And does market research demonstrate that this pricing structure is effective. Clearly everyone thinks so, because everyone uses it.

  • Tiffany says:

Yeah I know. It doesn’t affect me but someone, somewhere along the way said 7 was better than 9 or 5. So everyone adopted it. I use $14.95 on one of mine. I use $10 on some. But yes, I have some $27 products too :)

  • Tiffany says:

Now Bob, I told you not to hold back on your comments. lol :)

  • I’ll agree, the sales letter is way too long.

In regard to those testimonials being bogus, that may or may not be true; but they have pictures of the person along with website urls. (If they are indeed made up, then bad on PotPie Girl).

All-in-all, I think it’s about value. If the $77 taught you something you didn’t know and you can implement it and doing so is relatively easy…then it’s worth it.

I’m interested in knowing the “real” difference between the basic and premium package.

    Hi Tiff -

Where do you find the time. I just wanted to comment on using 7 in pricing. I remember a study some years ago but never checked it out for validity.

But the number 7 has been lucky or mystical in just about every culture as far back as we can look. It probably does have some kind of subconscious influence on us. The seven seas, 7 days of the week, lucky 7 playing dice, my favorite the seven dwarfs. It’s referenced so many places people have done major studies about it. There’s at least one book dedicated to it.

It’s a big part of beliefs, culture, legends, mythology, and religion. It’s considered lucky, mystical, powerful, the perfect number. All the wonderful meanings and references for the number 7 and now the magic number to make a sale.

I remember thinking of getting it back when she was selling it for $30 or so. I put off the purchase decision for a few days so that I could think on it some. When I decided to buy, she had upped the price to $50 or there abouts. That decided it for me. I will never purchase the thing EVER. Now I see she’s jacked the price to $80 ($77, $80, it’s the same). She’s morphed into another marketing machine not much different from Mike Filsaime.

  • Hi,

I bought the basic product back when it was the only one offered. I don’t agree with comments that her price has increased. The basic package is the same price as I paid for it. The higher priced Premium Package is a different product.

I liked it and still think it offers a lot of information. It gives loads of advice on using Squidoo lens, although Squidoo’s new rules for its lenses, created a panic for those people who were using her system for such things as the weight loss niche, for example. Squidoo came down HARD on weight loss lenses, closing many down. Squidoo wants good content!

I followed her system to create lenses on “car buying tips”. My lenses never gained a high rank, probably largely because I was in a high competition area, where there are thousands of excellent lenses.

I received value for my money from her basic program. No doubt about it! However, the focus on Squidoo just wasn’t for me. I will also say that she is very quick to offer free update reports, and did so after Squidoo created their new rules. I am still on her customer mailing list, and have received a great deal of content from her, including her latest 7 Day Series, “Under The Radar with PotPieGirl”. It’s got some great ideas and content.

Finally, I do want to say that I am NOT an affiliate for her products. It’s simply that I believe she is one of the “good guys”.

    All the best,
    Laurie

I wasn’t aware that there was a premium version. At the time that I bought OWM. I also joined a companion program (monthly subscription) offered by some fellow OWM followers that found success with it. I remember thinking that I wouldn’t need it if the OWM plan was laid out in a way that those new to Squidoo could follow.
In all fairness I know that she did come out with a free squidoo guide later (although I haven’t read it). I can also honestly say that I never gave OWM a fair chance since I am so busy right now. I do have some lenses out there; I just haven’t kept up with them.

  • Janet says:

Likewise – I also bought the original version and didn’t give it a fair chance – but I was happy that it was good value for money and the case study provided was very detailed and seemed proof that the system worked. I too think she is very genuine and one of the good guys. I have received all the free updates available since purchasing it and also plenty of other free resources from her. She definitely has the thumbs up from me as an ethical marketer.
