Kindle Publishing Challenge Day 16 and 17

Pinterest

Hi everyone! I was busy getting organized yesterday and ghostwriting so I didn’t do anything on the challenge but I will today. One sec…okay more than one. Actually today I’m going through the rest of my resources and further educating myself to see if anything new comes to mind that I could add. I’m almost done with this creation. Okay did another two pages.

I’m at 20 pages, including the title page, TOC page, and disclaimer page. So 17 pages of solid content. Still have some more research to do, so it might get longer.

How have you been doing with your Kindle Challenge? Hang on, let me call Mom so I can update you on her progress. Well she’s at an early dinner/late lunch with a friend today so she’s not answering. I know my sister Jeni was going to wrap up her first Kindle creation last night. Haven’t talked to her yet today to find out if she did, though.

Can’t wait to get this one published! I started out not really into it, but found it interesting getting to reveal what annoyed me as a corporate employee once upon a time.

Tiff ;)

Wow! I just finished up my 30th page today not counting the disclaimer page or the title page. I got a little carried away — got on a roll and couldn’t stop several evenings in a row. At least I’m not scared of the white empty page anymore. And I found that I love writing like this. A little a day is soooo much less scarey than thinking about “writing a whole book!” LOL
Kris will edit and I’m having the cover made — it’s almost finished — nice.
I love the cover and idea of The Feast though it sort of creeped me out — the thought of what it might be — have to read it before I get too scared! Tee Hee!

I’m going well… the story is really coming together. I was actually planning two stories to release at the same time, and started on what I thought was ‘story 1′ – but a short way into it I found that it was actually going to be the second one, so I had to go back and start writing the NEW No. 1. LOL. But at least I have a really good picture in my mind of both of them now.
    Back to work…

    Hi Tiffany

As you know I published my first book in this challenge last week but sales are really slow so I have been looking at ways to promote it.

In the meantime I have started the next one because I really love being a part of this challenge – this one is in a niche I haven’t written in before (non-fiction) so I am having a lot of fun researching it and your emails are keeping me on track with the writing side of things :)

    Have a great day :)

I’m on ch. 5 of my fiction love story. I would have been much farther along but got very sick & had to go in hospital for a few days so got behind. I feel wonderful now & am enjoying my characters, losing my fear of expressing myself, & think I’m really going to love being a writer!

The main problem I’m having right now is that my characters stay busy in my head when I’m supposed to be concentrating on other things, like my job!

    Hi Tiff,

I didn’t take part in the challenge because I really wanted to get things rolling with a website I’ve been milling around with all year. I’m in the process of setting up a website to sell WP affiliate themes. I’ll have spurt of energy and positivity and work on something, then I’ll let doubt take over and move to something else. However….

The email you sent earlier this week regarding the Amazon Kindle Affiliate Guide got me intrigued. I always read your guides and couldn’t wait to see what this one was about. Talk about having a bad case of SNOS, but this is so different.

I was flooded with ideas and what’s so funny, I was writing down some things for a Squidoo lens and realized just how long that lens would be and BINGO, I could turn this lens into a Kindle book for Amazon. Out of all your guides that teach how to make money and money making systems, this has to be my favorite. I’ve even told my boss that I want her to write a book about interviewing tips but with a comical slant.

It’s too funny. This seems to be one of the easiest and simplest ways to earn affiliate income. I’m not saying that writing is easy, but if one is pretty well versed in grammar and can write things of interest, a Kindle book can be born.

I’m not in on the challenge, but I’m all down for it and the Amazon Kindle Affiliate Guide. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I’ll be sure to let you know when I have my first book published. It’ll be in the Christmas niche.

    Thanks Tiff!

I missed my pages yesterday! Released a PLR WSO so it took my focus. But I’ll do extra today. So far this challenge has helped me almost finish an ebook I’d been putting off for months! Couldn’t get going at all, but now doing just 1 page a day really moves it forward. And I’m releasing my first Kindle eBook next week – yay!

I’m at 19 pages without the resource page, etc. My Barnes and Noble manager daughter very much liked the cover, and I do too. She was cute as she explained why she liked it. I forgot she was so knowledgeable about book covers.

Rewriting first section re personal story per your suggestions, then finishing proof Friday or Saturday (caregiver stuff today and tomorrow). May see if I can expand, but not sure how many pages would be good for this type of book.

Really would like to get this done, but done well.

  • My Amazon Kindle Book is publish. It’s not live yet. I’m scared, but excited all at once. Thank you for helping us all push through.

Slacked off on my page yesterday…went to the doctor and then on muscle relaxants so my focus just wasn’t there. Today I’m back on the road and back on track so will have my page done.

One issue I’m running into though…ending one day’s page(s) and being able to pick up where I left off the next day. Even with following my outline I feel like I’m going to be repeating myself or something’s going to be “out of sync” when I’m done. I haven’t gone back to re-read it yet so it may just be me at the moment. Will let you know when I’m done and do a re-read. :o

Hi Tiffany – I now have 24 pages completed not counting the extra pages for content etc. I still have ideas for improving it so will be working on that today and have also spent some time researching a cover for the ebook. I am really struggling with that at the moment because I haven’t really seen one in my niche that makes me think “yes that is what I want” – I can be so indecisive at times so I know I just need to choose something and get on with it.

Re publishing the book, I have some ideas for feeder booklets and I am unsure whether I should write those first and publish them all together. They are booklets that I have already done the research for and one of which I started a while ago so should only take me maybe three more weeks to complete them all. Just not sure what is the best way forward at this stage.

I have a holiday booked in 12 days time with my daughter and 4 grandchildren so really need to break the back of this before then (probably take me 3 weeks to recover …lol)

  • Hello Tiff,

I got a bit behind with my pages because I decided to change what I was doing and started over again.

    Many blessings and angel cuddles,

    Sarah

  • I got off track with the long weekend here, and haven’t found my way back on yet. So far I have about 8 pages of good content, and all the rest of my points laid out, so I need to just sit down and expand them into decent sections.

  • Mary says:

Congrats, Tiffany, on getting some great reviews for your first book. I have one tiny suggestion re the cover: I can’t read the name of the series unless I click on the “look inside this book” link. So I didn’t actually realize it was a series. Perhaps if the font were slightly larger, or a different color? I hope this helps.

Meanwhile, I’m still in the challenge — just back from vacation. Have two short stories working and a nonfiction book. Plan to have all 3 on Kindle in September. Thanks so much for all your terrific advice and encouragement.

Well, let me send Jeni a Tweet to see if she’s done her homework!! Lol

  • Yoan says:

Your SECRET INFORMANT HERE: 007: YES, SHE HAS FINISHED IT! lol

  • Jeni says:

    It’s done! Now I start mapping out #2. :)

  • Been so busy lately getting my new Squidoo site up and going but I have managed to publish one new book this month which is exciting! I really need to work more on marketing though.
