I agree with you that the old version of the Keyword Tool is better than the new version.

I don’t know if you are aware of this but Google has changed the search volume being returned and there are major differences between the new and old Google Keyword Tools. (I just found this out today).
For example if I enter ‘baby alive doll’ (without the quotes) in the old tool I get: 49,500 phrase 27,000 exact Global Monthly Search Volume
but in the new keyword tool I get: 5,400 phrase 2,900 exact Global Monthly Search Volume
After reading the WF thread (http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-ppc-seo-discussion-forum/256212-google-keyword-tool-numbers-changed-drastically.html) it looks like the new GKT reflects the new volume of search results they are talking about. I repeated this test with many keywords and most of them reflected these results.
Interesting as I bought IPK and when I searched GKT using the model numbers I would get a search volume in the high thousands (before today). Now there are only a few hundred. May be a good thing I kind of procrastinated setting up these sites as I didn’t really like the type of content that was recommended to put on them even though I purchased a bunch of domains. Will now go through and check to see if they all have these types of results now.
What really hurts is that I paid A LOT OF MONEY for an IM product that provided keyword lists, graphics and articles and now just went through a bunch of the keyword numbers that they provided us and the numbers have now basically vanished

I know a lot of people (including yourself) don’t like using the new tool so they are using the old one but are unaware of the extreme difference in volumes being returned!
I have heard of many, many people say they could not understand why they weren’t getting a lot of traffic even though they were on the first page of Google when the search volume on GKT was super high. Now it makes sense if Google is providing the accurate numbers now.
I have spreadsheets of keywords and search volumes for possible niches to get into and it looks like all this work will need to be re-done!
You may want to do some research yourself and then do an updated video so that your subscribers don’t use the old tool anymore.

I really dislike the new tool, but I guess we will have to learn to love it.

This new Google keyword tool sucks arse big time.
In my opinion the new keyword tool tries to manipulate you. We often used both tools parallel. In the legacy mode for the same query you had much more results and niches. The new version tries to concentrate on fewer keywords, often those that are suggested in a google search and those, that are important for adwords.
If you do simple cross combinations of a two term keyword A B and B A: in the new tool you will often find only one, e.g A B with traffic and B A without traffic. IN the legacy you found A B and B A, both with traffic.
Trying both combinations in the search engine has different results in anyway. This means, both terms are relevant. But Google wants us to use only A B.
I think, through this, in the long term, google tries to concentrate search traffic on fewer terms and receive more revenue with adwords through this. Clickthrough rates in cpc programmes are on a historical low level and for Google it starts to become difficult to get more revenue. Concentrating on fewer keywords is the only possibility to get more revenue with the same customers.
