Finding a Niche That Knows No Boundaries
By Tiffany | January 3, 2008
There are different types of niches, as you all know.
There are seasonal niches for the holidays, gender-specific niches, niches that are broad and niches that are narrow.
Ideally, you want your niche to encompass two character traits.
1st, it needs to be an evergreen niche. That means it won’t go out of style. Not today, not romorrow, not ever. Long-term profitability is a key to helping you sustain a consistent income online.
2nd, it needs to cater to a broad demographic. That means men, women, from teens to seniors and everyone in between.
Here’s an example: Golf. Stress is another.
Golf is a sport you can pick up when you’re 3 and play till the day you die. Men and women alike can play it and the selling opportunities along the way are ginormous, as my own teenage golfing son likes to say. You can play the sport year round, too - and it’s something they have in many countries around the world.
Stress is another evergreen niche that knows no demographic boundaries. Usually, it starts as a teen (although some ‘tweens even feel stress). Men and women both share in their dedication to stress (willingly or not), and they’re always seeking solutions for it. It won’t go away not so long as the world keeps turning.
Now, combine those niches with your niche. What’s your niche? Are they Baby Boomers looking to make money online? Then they’re stressed. Add some stress solutions JUST for them. Contribute to their health and wellness by encouraging them to play a sport like golf or engage in other hobbies so they don’t turn into a work at home hermit (like myself, HA)!
Start thinking of how you can weave in a constant niche like the ones above into your own online pursuits. There’s a way - you just have to find it!
