Have I Earned Your Trust?
I don’t believe in horoscopes but it’s fun to read anyway. Last night I was reading Life & Style magazine and my Cancer horoscope gave me some sage advice that shuld suit everybody. It said:
“Go ahead and put your trust in the people who’ve earned it. As for the others, it’s okay to just let them go.”
I love that statement! Apply it to who you follow in Internet marketing. Don’t just go by my recommendations or anyone elses. Make each and every marketer prove their worth and do something to allow you to build trust in them. And since we all know how destructive information overload and being on too many lists can be, let go of the others.
You might be one of those people who feels they MUST be subscribed to everyone or you’ll miss out on something important but here’s the deal: If something is really important, everyone will cover it (like when Squidoo was first a hit). You’ll be okay – you’ll be BETTER off – if you follow worthy marketers and abandon those who fall short.

Great post, Tiffany!
This is something that should be common sense. You don’t go down to the used car lot and automatically trust the salesman, but some people mistakenly put their trust in an online marketer because they show a paypal graphic that could easily be faked. Trust should come from a solid trail of experience with the person it is being placed in.
Don’t you love it when you find quality wisdom in strange places?
My 6 year old returned home from school with a story of another boy calling him a “bad word” the other day. I was concerned about if his feelings were hurt or if he escalated the behavior and called that boy a “bad word” back, or God forbid hit the kid.
He said “no, I like it when a kid calls me a bad name, that means I know not to be their friend”.
It took me 30+ years to learn to appreciate examples of bad character as warnings about forming personal or business relationships with the people that exhibit them and he nailed it at 6.
Thanks for all the info you provide!
I love it! Your kid’s got some good gut instinct.
Tiffany, when I read your headline, I answered out loud saying, “Yes, you absolutely have!”
I appreciate your honesty, integrity, transparency and authenticity. I don’t believe any of those words are redundant when describing you here or any of the other places that I read your stuff. This slow moving newbie appreciates and respects you. Thanks for being who you are.
Morning Tiffany,
I heard that “gut cells” are not as advanced as “brain cells” and subsequently have not learned self-doubt … which is why our gut is more often right than our brain *grin*
And yes, I’ve been purging “noisy” low value list subscriptions too. As with most things in life, it’s quality not quantity that counts.

Why thank you John – I appreciate that! It’s the biggest compliment I could receive!
Me too James – and what bugs me is when my brain is wrong – like someone I thought would be ethical, great quality etc turns out to be spammy and scummy
