Mind Mapping Tutorial for Marketing

Hi everyone! So someone asked for a tutorial on mind mapping. I decided to pair Craig Desorcy’s input with my own ideas and make a video showing you how I make a mind map and use it from start to finish.

Personally, I’m using the unlimited version Mind Meister. The personal version is $4.99/month or you can do what I did and pay $44/year. ¬†They DO have a FREE version but you only get 3 mind maps. I quickly realized I needed more.

So the tutorial is about an 11 minute video – starting from which site I’m making one for through to completion.

Hope you enjoyed it!
Tiff ;)

Thanks for putting that together Tiff. I don’t like all the clutter either so I understand not using all the bells and whistles. Just having it all down visually is keeping me focused (although I see a definite danger of getting focused on my mapping rather than the implementing!) :)

It does have me feeling less overwhelmed to be getting it down on paper so to speak though. I can look at it at any given time to see where to put my energy for immediate income, intermediate goals and such.

The only frustration I’m having with Mind Meister vs. the other program I was testing out is that the lines get out of whack and I have to refresh. Have you had that or is it just my computer maybe?
    Thanks!

Thank you Tiffany, that was great! I was always too intimidated to try it and you mind it appear easy.

I think I’ll do that for my planning

I have it now. The idea, I mean. I had downloaded the Warrior Map that Allen made and it is beautiful. I had no idea how to apply it to me, though.

You have simplified for even me, Tiffany. Thank you.

    Perfect timing!!

Today is a rainy day in SoCal, so I decided it was the day to set up my mind maps online.

And what do I find in my email…that you have created a tutorial for us. You are the BEST!

    Great timesaver. Thanks, Tiff:)

That’s pretty cool! I’ve tried mind-mapping several times and end up creating a to-do list but that seems to be as far as I get. I do like that it helps me see the overall picture, but I don’t end up using it to its full potential. Glad this is working out for you!

    Hi, Tiffany!

I just ordered through your link — I hope — but my free trial is until May 31. I hope you’ll do some more posts on using Mind Meister. Thanks for going to the trouble of creating the video. I was trying to make Inspiration work for me, which is what I’ve always used, but I’m going to give Mind Meister a go.

    Hi Tiff,

I love mind maps, I just need to remember to check them more often. My mind gets so overflowing with what I need to do next that I sometimes freeze up.

I use NovaMind and it allows me to use ‘enter’ to make a new node on the same level and ‘insert’ to create one on the next level. I’m not sure if Mind Meister has this but perhaps it might be standard for mind maps. I like doing it this way as it saves me time not having to click on the menu bar all the time.

  • I’ve been using FreeMind which is a free mind mapping program some people on WF recommended. I didn’t really get mind maps until recently when you started talking about them. I tried using them but they didn’t help…

I realized the reason was my program! FreeMind is good, but your suggestion is so much easier to use and much nicer looking. I’ve been creating mind maps and sharing them like crazy! I just finished one about driving traffic to my PLR store that I plan to share on WF on the recent thread on the subject.

They are a brilliant way to share information in an organized way so I’ll be making a lot more of them. Looks like I’ll have to upgrade soon!

Wonderful! Straight to the point again, no blah blah! great video! One question (unrelated)- How do I put my pic in the comment box? I see people have their pics and I only have that blue thingy…lol!! Thanks! Yoan

Hi Tiffany Great Video! I am big on your videos and this one is just as great as the rest.

    Thank you for the inspiration.

    All the best!!!

Hi Tiff, thanks for the great info! Just what I needed :)

You’re a real inspiration and I’m so grateful to be able to learn from you.

    God bless!

Thank you for the video. It helps to see it in process. You still have the to do list, so how does it help more than the to do list? Does it really help you stay focused?

Let’s say you have 40 sites, would you do that for all of them? I think you would get bogged down. Any thoughts? I like the idea I just don’t know if its practical.

I guess I’m asking what is the benefit you find in using the mind map?

    PS
    Don’t mean to be dense.

    • Tiffany says:

I have a mind map for all of them (or I will). but my only to do list is one list that has the day on it for that day with some work and home tasks. Not everything gets worked on daily. I’m able to see the big picture of the site, rather than sitting there each day trying to brainstorm what needs to be done next. I never got it before, either.

  • gmasoup says:

    Thank you again.
Okay, I think that made it more clear. You’re right I write down what they need and then forget, having to do it all over again when I get back to that site. Only one to do list makes more sense, I was thinking you had several to do lists.
I’m off to give it a shot.
    Thanks

The work stuff sounds great…and the “Tiff Time” even better! (Maybe you could write a stress relief book with that title!) :)

I always wonder how you don’t have an ulcer with all you have going on. I am glad to see you take time for yourself. You certainly take time for all of us.

  • Ruth Clark says:

I suppose this was when I was still lurking and trying to figure things out. I did get the mind map. Then I went to FreeMind.

I find myself trying to clean out and clean up and finding “new-older” treasures…can’t clean out because I have to stop and read some more.

Also, I can see how far I’ve come by doing this. Great way to measure progress.

Now, I have to eat lunch and get back to work…running about two days behind on my blog and some offline stuff for someone else.

Hope you’re having a great Saturday. I’m not even aware of what going on in Aug 2013. I am wandering around in 2012. lol

I’ll get over there after I accomplish some necessary things.
