Dork here! I didn’t realize that you didn’t need a Kindle to order and read Kindle books! Guess they advertise that quietly because they want you to buy a Kindle.
You can download Kindle books to your PC, iPhone, iPad, or many other options. Here’s how you do it:

Yes Tiffany! I’ve been reading Kindle books on my PC for awhile now. BUT – I still want that Kindle Fire! It’s awesome.
I read in the bath so it’s pointless for me to have an electronic gadget. But the hubby bought it for me so I’ll use it to check my formatting. LOL
I use my iPad for pleasure reading, but when I am researching I prefer to send to my laptop because it is easier to click around while taking notes. That being said, for me, nothing beats a brand new book in hand.
I’ve used Kindle for PC for quite some time, but I recently purchased a Kindle tablet because I wanted something more mobile. I got tired of looking at my big box PC, and now my laptop, when I can hold a light-weight reader that has any number of books to choose from.
At least now I have options depending on where I am in my home and how comfortable I want to get as I’m reading books.
I have been using my PC for quite some time. I don’t own a Kindle but my MIL does. I might check the formatting on my books with her Kindle to see how they look. Thank you for the idea.
Hugs

Hi Tiffany,
I had Kindle on both my PC and phone before I ever owned a Kindle. However, I work with a couple of local non-profits for kids and jumped at the chance to get a Kindle Fire for trading a little work. I must admit I am in love with the thing.
All I had to do was create a few simple graphics for the Spring Break program. Plus, I just got a 4th generation 32GB iPod touch for simply providing them with graphics for a certificate. I love that bartering!
Hi Tiffany
I use Kindle on my PC because here in NZ we don’t have access to the wireless Kindle yet – we get our versions at least a year behind the US. But I can’t wait until I do get a proper Kindle because then i can sit on the couch to read the 200 odd books I have on my Kindle so far

I have one but I like paperback lol
Hi Tiffany.
I too have been reading Kindle products on my PC for a while now. I have no plans to buy a Kindle either, because I like to curl up on the couch/in bed/in front of the fire with a real book and I find page flipping much easier than screen sliding.
Also, waking up with the smell of paper in one’s nostrils (having fallen asleep reading) has to be better than wiping drool off of a plastic screen! lol
Or maybe I’m just getting old…….:-)
Me too George! Paperback is what I love.
Hey Tiff,
Your migration to Kindle is sweet timing. I am starting my ebook life and it’s great to follow your journey.
My biggest hassle with Kindle is being outside the USA. I’ve downloaded the KindleMac and Kindle Cloud versions, but I cannot buy Kindle ebooks due to copyright exclusion.
I tried to purchase your Being an Entrepreneur and it is unavailable to me in Malaysia. I even transferred my Kindle account to my Amazon.com account … but no luck.
I can purchase goods on Amazon.com with a local credit card and the US$ changes to local currency.
My IP address tags my country, so I don’t know how to get around the “Kindle editions are not available in Malaysia”.
Just to let you know that your global market is restricted. Let’s find a solution.
That sucks Rick! I wonder if it does that with print on demand too?
Rick, if you have access to a US credit card and address, you can create a US account. It’s your payment method that determines your country, not your IP address. e.g. I’m in Israel but my credit card is UK-based, so I have to have a UK Amazon account.
I like to read in the dark. So I installed the Kindle app on a tablet and use it that way. Similar to the iphone, but a bigger display.
Oh my eyes hurt just reading that Kater lol
Geez, I did not realize this either. However I have uploaded PDFs to my kindle from my computer.
Well, this should make my kid happy since she is the rightful owner of the Kindle in this house!
