Online Career Plans: Becoming an Entrepreneur
Hi everyone! I recently told you that I’ll be trying to release all of my upcoming info products via Amazon instead of building individual minisites for them. I love the platform, the built in exposure to a global audience, and the professionalism and credibility it projects.
When I first started looking into Kindle as a solo platform (I already had my print on demand cross over as a Kindle for a long time), I was advised by my friend Paula to do a business series.
Geoff Shaw’s Kindling course reinforced that idea, so I mapped out a series of business books.
The series is called Online Career Plans and the individual books will have a separate name. The first one is called Becoming an Entrepreneur. (If you click on the image on the Amazon page it lets you read a sample of the book).
In it, I cover the following sections:
- Being Your Own Boss
- What If You Have No Experience?
- Having a Steady Paycheck
- Evaluating Your Commitment to Ethics
- Picking the Career Path That’s Right for You
- Telling Family and Friends
- Being Able to Claim You’re an Expert
- Fear of Messing Up
- Spreading Yourself Too Thin
- Fast Moving Technology
But I wanted to tell you why I wanted to do this series – specifically on the Amazon Kindle platform. It’s why most of my products will now be there – and why you won’t be paying $27, $47 or $67 for my content, but just $0.99 to $2.99 for now.
One thing that’s always bothered me is that newcomers to Internet marketing typically encounter several scumbags before they ever find me. They generally lose a nice sum of money, too. I know this because you guys tell me how much you’ve spent.
I keep thinking, “I wish I could get to them before the over-price and under-deliver scammers do.”
Well I feel that Kindle will give me that opportunity. There, I’m not the person people turn to when they’ve already been disappointed and finally go searching for someone ethical. On Amazon, I’m the first point of contact.
I intercept one for the good guys.
I don’t break their bank accounts. Everyone can afford $0.99. Even the $2.99 series books won’t hurt people and they’ll be getting really solid, ethical advice from me.
I’m so excited. This is rewarding for me on a personal satisfaction level. I love helping people and I love making things affordable. Everyone’s always trying to level up in what they charge and I just really hope to cast a wide net and be the guidance for those who need it so they don’t get sucked into this world in some scumbag marketers “sales funnel.”
Part is ready too – Creating Success Habits
Tiff
P.S. If you do check it out, you can “Like” and “Tag” the book for whatever keywords you think it would help people find this information for. If you buy it, feel free to leave an honest review. I appreciate your feedback!
Share and Enjoy

Tiff – high five! Way to take Kindling action!
I’ve reached a similar conclusion doing Geoff’s series and am working on converting my short course as we speak (not in the business niche).
I wonder though, in the IM niche if people will value your information as much as say the $497, $997 or higher courses? I think everyone here knows that you’re the real deal, how are you conveying that on Amazon?
Yeah I don’t know. I do know it’ll have a shot so that’s all I need
All it will take for someone to realize you are “The Real Deal” is for someone to buy one of your books, subscribe to your blog and implement what you’re teaching. They will beat your door down to buy the rest of your series Tiffany.
Not everyone can afford the $497,$997. and higher courses but they’re willing to do the work and need some guidance. I know from experience that if you try to research IM online that there’s so much conflicting (and inaccurate)information that a newbie gets confused, doesn’t know what to do and eventually, possibly, gives up. Not me! lol! I know I’m not alone in this.
I’m one of those people who was in a frustrating job and went home each night, had no idea what to do, and began this process by typing “How To Make Money Online” into Google which lead me a lot of places I didn’t need or want to be but it eventually lead me to Travis Sago who (Bless You Travis!)was promoting one of your products, I found you and have read every word you have typed since then. I do truly believe a lot of people are in the same boat.
One of the things I really appreciate about you Tiffany is that you care enough and take the time to respond to my emails. That’s VERY rare in the IM world. I can’t begin to tell you how many of my sensible, well worded emails have gone unanswered by other sources.
SO, once people buy your books and figure it out, you’ll have more repeat business than you can handle. If they don’t figure it out, well, they’re beyond help and you don’t want to be bothered anyway!
All I can say is you’re a ROCK STAR in my book. You’ll do well with Kindle, SO well in fact, you’ll probably have all the IM gurus whimpering and writhing and wishing THEY had thought of it and wondering how one woman from Texas was single handedly able to bring honesty to IM education, with brown pillows and a Flip video camera…..OH and Honey too!
Don’t give the competition even a second thought. Just carry on being you and do what you do so well. I,for one, really appreciate you and your major contribution. Thanks Tiffany!
lol brown pillows
I never think about competition. Thanks Kate
……..but the competition is watching you!
By the way, the book image isn’t clickable, in case it was supposed to be?
Oh no not in my post on the site but I’ll make it clickable here.
Tiff,
FWIW I think you made a solid (and good) business choice for all the right reasons. Scumbags abound, even in the Kindle publishing arena, and I’m glad you’ve stepped up to debunking the snake oilers and becoming an officially published author.
Keep up the great work that you do for all of us newbies and aspiring solo-preneurers.
Love your passion, enthusiasm and above all your integrity.
Be
Thanks Be!
Tiff- who did you use as a designer for the cover?
Rich – QuickSiteStudio.com – he’s my go to guy now. LOVE him.
You are such a great person Tiff!! I love that you are truly passionate about helping others….I am the same way…I love sharing information and helping others become better if I can. Thanks for all that you do!! I’m really enjoying Kindling by the way!! Geoff has been very responsive to all my questions!! All the best!
Tiff,
I’m not far behind you on the Kindle move and the way your setting up your business model is ideal. Hopefully folks will see the way you’re setting it up.
Ken
I agree with what you are doing, Tiff. Hope they do find you first. You have such great information.

Hi Tiffany
Thanks for being who you are – it is so very much appreciated.
Is it true that affiliate marketing isn’t a good model these days? I’m just starting out and deciding whether to focus first on kindle or affiliate marketing. This is the only place I know I can ask this and get a no-BS answer
I like affiliate marketing but it’s my last addition to my business model. In fact I touched on that inside this lesson – because I’m backwards from most other marketers who say to use it first.
Thanks Tiffany and good luck with the new series – it will make this info so much more accessible to those of us on tiny incomes.
Tiff,
What are you planning for your backend to your book sales? I assume you will be list building. Then recommending complementary products? Or are you just going to make it on your book sale commissions?
I get the impression that you will need to build a backend if you are not a big name author that sells lots of books.
Robert
No plans yet Robert.
Tiffany, it’s heart-warming to see the respect, and even affection, in which your readers hold you.
Phil
thanks Phil
Yep – been thinking the same thing. I have 2 ebooks that used to do great – relatively evergreen, but in need of some updating. I really like the idea of turning them into Kindle books. For one thing, the marketing (that I’ve been really lax on the past several years) will be taken care of once I set things up right. Also, the websites can be directed to Amazon, so that stuff won’t go away. And, I like that the reach can be so very much further. Do I care about making less money per sale? Not really, because (as I said) I think the reach is even further, plus the potential for future sales is much higher – if someone likes my work, they do not necessarily need to be on my mailing list to find more stuff from me.
So, as I’m updating things, I’ll be focusing more on this platform.
I think I might have to get this course Tiff….If I can make at least enough to where it covers my day job income that would be great.
Tiff, how many pages was this first doc, if you don’t mind me asking? I think I’m getting a bit long-winded in mine! I know Geoff says a book is as long as it needs to be, but…. book 1 and all that, you know
It’s okay if you’d rather not say. I read it on my ipad, sideways, so it showed up in two columns.
28 pages including a title, dedication, table of contents and disclaimer page.
TY
Hi, Tiff!!!
I think you’re working with a great business model which fits right in with your skill and talent.
Your candor, responsiveness and transparency is greatly appreciated. I wish you the very best with this transition and your branding.
Thanks Iris!
Hi Tiff
The only problem that I have if you sell your books only through kindle is that you cannot print them out as they are not in pdf format. There is no option to print them from the kindle pc software.
They’ll eventually get into POD format too if that helps.
Very excited to get a peek behind the curtain, Great Oz (and tag along on your coat tails for the adventure!)
Best of luck to you!
Thanks Mary!
Hi Tiffany
I think you have a great idea and it will make your courses affordable for a huge audience
Thanks for putting so much energy into this and sharing the journey
Lisa
Thanks Lisa!
I was thinking today, with all of this Kindle stuff going on, that it may be about to put a serious dent in the Clickbank way of doing business.
It’s funny how you like reading on your computer. I bought my first Kindle just the other day because, as much as I read on my computer I would much rather read from a book, which the kindle simulates to a high degree.
Plus, I don’t have to find space on my bookshelf for all the 100′s of Star Trek novels I haven’t read yet. It’s also going to save me a few thousand dollars in book prices as well. Woot!
It might but it’ll take a LONG time. I’ll be reading more on my Kindle but non fiction only – my fiction come in paperback. lol
Way to go Tiff. l love everything you do though l always fall by the wayside myself. That’s a great price for me. l’m buying.
Thanks Annie! Enjoy!
Hey,
I just saw something on Ruth Pound’s Internet Dream site where you can hook up to Kindle for a subscription to a blog. I thought this was a new novel way to use Kindle for income. Of course, one can review the blog for free via a normal browser, but just an idea to stick in your inventory of marketing ideas. http://www.theinternetdream.com/6-lessons-learned-from-6-months-of-location-independence/
My blog’s on Kindle too. But I don’t know why anyone would Kindle a blog.
Hi Tiff, just wanted to let you know that you now have a UK sale! I’ll leave a review as soon as Amazon will let me! It is telling me that I have to wait 48 hours – bah humbug.
I only bought this because it is you – none of the information is new to me (and I wasn’t expecting it to be!) But I wanted to give you some support, encouragement and a verified purchase review.
Thank you Tiff
Thank you! I have a few UK sales – mostly US though
God Bless you Tiff!!
Blazing a trail as usual! Love it!
Tiffany,
Do you EVER get comments saying that you stink? No.
As a serial purchaser of Tiffany Dow products, I love the idea that your stuff will be cheaper. I already bought “Becoming an Entrepreneur”. I’m happy that you will reach a wider audience. Perhaps you, and others like you, will actually change the face of the IM training market.
As a Tiff follower for several months, I love the personal contact that you have with your followers. Gotta admit to a selfish worry that as your audience grows that accessibility will be lost. Oh well, maybe in ten years I’ll be able to say “I knew her when…”
Seriously, I wish you the greatest success. You are a true leader, a beacon of hope for noobs like myself.
Thanks for all that you do for us, Tiff.
Nope it won’t be
It’s what I love about it.
The bible has a lot to say about people who are honest and a lot to say about those who are not. Keep it up Tiffany, God Bless
I think this is a great track to move into. I’ve spent the first six months of 2012 removing and then converting 90% of one of my blogs to ebook for distribution through Amazon’s Kindle service. The monetization alone has increased over what I was earning off of the website before and the exposure to the Amazonian eyeballs is a nice plus. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got a tiny little bug in my brain who now and then will raise an eyebrow and read me the riot act about putting all of your eggs in one third party basket, but I still think its the right choice.
That’s great Mark!
Hi there, I tried to get the book from Amazon.com, but it is not available for residents in Europe. So, I went to Amazon in UK an get the message that the book is only available for residents in the UK. Will it be possible for us in other European countries to buy it?
I’m not sure Kristin! I have it set globally, though.
Hey Tiff,
I’ve heard a LOT of people claim that Business, particularly IM stuff doesn’t do that well on Kindle, in comparison to other niches. So, it will be very interesting to see how yours compares to your Vegetarian book and what sort of results you get on Kindle for this market. I think one of the major downsides of ONLY selling on Kindle is, the majority of people would rather read a PDF, than a Kindle, as most people don’t either have a Kindle or know about the APP’s andPC Software. This is going to be extremely interesting.
Cheers.
Stan.
I never listen to people. LOL – I buy business books from there all the time. Success mindset stuff. Not sure about a PDF but how is it different from a Kindle Cloud for example?
I just think, to go over to ONLY Kindle, is leaving a lot of potential on the table, as not a great deal of people know you don’t actually need to own a Kindle. For instance, how many people have told you since this challenge started, ‘I didn’t know I didn’t need a Kindle’?
Lots! Just have to educate them. I also have tons of people not understanding how to buy an ecourse off a normal website, though. LOL!
Tiff,
I’m glad that I finally found you before giving up. Like you say, I too have been through the mine field before arriving here. But I am here, and I feel blessed. You are such a breath of fresh air, and I truly appreciate all that you do. I just purchased your book and will give it a review when I’m done. I’m looking forward to following you on the road to Kindle greatness!
thanks Phil!
Exciting, Tiff!
Your cover looks fab, and of course, I purchased your book. I plan to loan it to several friends (which you’ll still receive payment for – how cool is that?!) and it’s fun to be on this journey with you.
I’m new on this Kindle publishing journey too. I must admit – I have always loved your blog posts – but now I find that I can hardly wait to read about the next installment of Tiffany and Kindle. (-:
Happy for you!
Warmly,
Kate
That is cool isn’t it? Thanks Kate!
Hi Tiff
If I was to purchase the kindle version and email you when I have done this, could you email me a PDF version or what would be the best way to get a PDF. I don’t have a kindle reader – just the PC but prefer to be able to print out for reading as it’s a fight to get time on the home PC.
many thanks
Nerine
I think so – I’m not sure how that works. LOL! Let’s try it.
