Spanish Lens Indexed and Getting Traffic in 6 Days

Author: So it was November 13th when I created the copycat lens of my top toddler toys lens on Squidoo. Remember I used a free online translator to cut and paste all of the content and turn it into a Spanish version. I did nothing else with it other than blog about it here once and make 1 Tweet.
Fast forward 6 days and now I’m starting to get Google traffic. Granted it’s only 1 phrase but it always starts with one and picks up steam now that Google has it on its radar. The phrase is “juguete con hamster para niños” which means “toy with hamster for children” when I translate it back from Spanish to English.
What I may do is create a Squidoo account solely for Spanish lenses. I’ll put my Halloween costume lens in there and the copycat Spanish holiday lenses in there, too.

Your results just keep on climbing. What you did was rather cool. Always thinking out of the box. I think I’m going to follow your lead too. How long did it take for you to translate your lens by the way?

You are always thinking of new ways to move forward.
In the case of “online translators” I think I would contract a live person to translate instead.
The “babblefish” type translators create some really strange grammar and words that make no sense in a sentence. At least that is my experience with international customers who have contacted me using a “free online translator”
I get the gist of the conversation, but am at a loss for some comments.
Find a Spanish speaker and have them read your lens to be sure your page makes sense and is grammatically correct.
Do Squidoo lenses rank well these days?
I first discovered Squidoo about 18 months ago and set up about 10 lens and some of them ranked really well. Earlier on this year, there seemed to be a bit of a Google slap with Squidoo because of the amount of porn/gambling/etc lenses and I seen a massive drop in rankings. I havent used Squidoo since.
The Squidoo slap happened about 2 summers ago – but they got rid of all porn/gambling etc
So it’s clean now…
