Squid Pro Quo 30 Day Lens Challenge Day 3

Author: Hi everyone! Continuing on in my 30 day quest to build 30 lenses (1 per day) using a mixture of what I learned in Squid Pro Quo and my own preferences. So first let’s check in on existing lenses and then I’ll show you what I worked on today!
Lens #1 is the lens I did exactly as Erica Stone instructs on baby dolls for toddlers. It still has the same 3 Google keyword phrases it’s being found for. No earnings yet. It fell off page 2 for its main keyword phrase “baby dolls for toddlers.” It fell off the first two pages for its second keyword phrase. It fell off the first two pages for its third keyword phrase. Still not ranking for the 4th keyword phrase. It fell off the first 2 pages for the 5th keyword phrase. It fell off the first two pages for its 6th keyword phrase. And it also fell off the first two pages for its 7th keyword phrase.
Yikes! I hope it’s just having to settle in or something.
In comparison, the other identical lens I built for that keyword phrase still hasn’t gotten any Google traffic and also isn’t ranking. LOL!
Lens #2 is my cast iron grill grates lens – not ranking for its main phrase. Has no Google traffic on the lens stats. Ranks page 2 #12 for second phrase. Ranks page 2 #12 for third phrase. Gained a spot in the SERPs to be page 2 #14 for the fourth phrase. No ranking for the fifth phrase. Page 1 #10 for the fifth phrase. No earnings other than the $0.97 from before.
Lens #3 is my recessed toilet paper holder lens. Now yesterday I created this at 3 PM and by 6 PM Google had it indexed. But no Google traffic or earnings yet. It doesn’t rank for the main phrase. For the second phrase it ranks page 2 #15. For the third phrase it ranks page 2 #14. Doesn’t rank for the fourth phrase. Doesn’t rank for the fifth phrase. The sixth phrase ranks page 2 #13. The seventh phrase ranks page 1 #5. The eighth phrase ranks page 2 #12. The ninth phrase ranks page 2 #11. And the last phrase doesn’t rank.
So let’s move on to lens #4 today!
Again, I’m using Miss Scarlett’s keyword list of seed starters she came up with! One of them was “dog bone.” So I go searching and discover that “dog bone cookie cutter” has 880 global exact searches. Now someone else already has that exact URL, but not the one with the “s” added on – and they’re not ranking on the first two pages of Google, either. There are ten SERP perks. Plenty of products on Amazon, too!
I had fun making this one because I could personalize it so much. I decided to include the RSS at the bottom of the page, so less link leakage being featured prominently. I added a photo of Honey and a Duel Debate module. I love those! People enjoy sounding off about their opinions. I was also actually able to find a non spammy YouTube video, so I included it.
Wow that took awhile. There weren’t many phrases I could use for the main keyword phrase, so I added things like top 10 dog treat cookbooks (to use with their cookie cutters) and top 5 readymade dog treats made in the USA.

I enjoyed that one, even though it took longer. always like personalizing things.
And here’s a narrow niche idea for you:
While I was researching and reading reviews of products, I found several people mention a co worker or someone they knew having a “puppy shower.” Apparently, this is springing up as some new trend. Google it. Bet one of you could get in on that and dominate if you wanted to. It’s still not a huge thing.

I like it Tiff! I like the look and “feel” of more text on the page. I think I’m going to start adding more to the written section on mine as well. But I’ve finished mine for today, which makes 5 done since buying the book!
One quick question – how are you checking where your lens is ranking for the various keywords?
I’ll make a video for tomorrow’s blog about it because everyone’s asking me that
I like how you added to the lens with other modules. It’s great that Scarlett got to be a part of Squidoo lens building. Someday she may have her own collection of articles.

I had a puppy shower when I brought home my newest English Cocker. Sadly, she wasn’t allowed to attend (held at work under tyrant boss’s rules). Anyway, we had a great time – puppy decorations, puppy presents, and even a puppy cake!! That was in the summer of 2009, so maybe we started the trend!!
Congrats on getting a lens done on “date night”.

Great lens, Tiff. I started working on the Squid Pro Quo method yesterday. Then I took a look at my best lens on Plastic Canvas Kissies and spent the night correcting problems with it. This all came about when I decided to see how the utilities in the Squidoo paper worked. I spent a lot of time yesterday because I found out that my links were not working right and some of the sites had disappeared. I was up until 4am this morning working on that and still have some work to do on it. Whew! I thought that one was good to go. It is my real money maker also.
Maybe tomorrow after get back from visiting my MIL in the hospital.

I really like the Dog Bone Cookie Cutters lens. It was nice to see Honey. Boy, she is absolutely getting plenty to eat. Can’t believe how big she has gotten. She is just so cute. My wife and I just love her. I am anxious to see if your first 3 lenses start going back up in google rankings. I am really enjoying following your progress with your lens. I think everyone is. Oh Sam that was a pic from her the day we got her as a baby! LOL! She had a big tummy and we didn’t know why – well it turned out the next day we found out – it was full of worms! She had parvo and we had to hospitalize her and almost lost her, but she pulled through.

I can see why you named her Honey. She certainly is. I didn’t realize that was a picture of her when she was little. My wife and I are sure glad she pulled thru. We enjoy seeing her so much. I have had a dog most all of my adult life, but currently don’t have one, as I just don’t have the time to take proper care of one right now. My wife and I are spending so much time helping with our granddaughter who had the open heart surgery and the other 3 grandkids. I would hope that I will be able to get another dog once everything gets back in some kind of order. Take Care,Sam

I bought the Squid Pro Quo a few days ago and have been working on my first lens for 3 days…I am fairly new with Squidoo and have only done a couple of lenses. But I had one question, how do you add the video? I know it should be fairly simple. Copy the link from YouTube and paste into the video module, but every time I do it always says that there are no videos.
Does anyone have any suggestion? It is probably something really simple, but I have tried to fix it and it is just not cooperating!

I don’t think my first lens is indexed by Google. I made it last Thursday – http://www.squidoo.com/barbie-clothing-for-women – but I realize that I made an error. I shouldn’t have had “barbie” in the lens name and URL.
I’ve just finished my second lens today – http://www.squidoo.com/best-way-to-learn-hebrew – They take me a lot of time to make, but I love it. My Squidoo rank is 20 now
I “grew” from lvl 17 the other day. That’s kind of fun.
I also wrote a PLR article today – my first since December last year, yay! And I got the daily blog post online.
I would love to be more productive, but we’ve just moved, and there’s so much to do at home as well.

Well I attempted to make a psuedo lens today and it kept telling me that the URL was taken or whatever so after trying a dozen different ways I picked another one and when I got to the part where I had no more and want to put it into drafts both of them showed up. Don’t ask me.
I also put a picture on the first one at it was fine but when I went back in to see what it looked like~~~~~~~~~~ta ra~~~~~~ no picture so I guess it’s now back to the drawing board. I was using your Lenscrafting guidelines but unfortunately they’ve changed the format obviously and I’ll just have to re-read and start again, damn.
All this when I was feeling so clever because a friend helped me put my picture on Skype, Facebook and Twitter so I was pumped but I’m now very deflated and have to look after the grandies tomorrow so I wont be showing off my prowess.
Have you noticed that your 9-1/2 inch cookie cutter with the handle has no price and also the second paragraph (top of page) it says “she’s work on that” when I think you mean “she’ll”, I know how you hate finding mistakes in things and I do too so thought you might like to know but you may have fixed them by now.
