Squidoo 2013 Earnings for February

Hi everyone! As promised, I’m going to share with you what I actually get PAID from Squidoo this year as I work to build more lenses. I want to update you on some things.

In January, they sent $134.97 to my PayPal. So January’s payment is from which month, November 2012 I think?

I just got paid yesterday in the amount of $192.29. So that was for December’s earnings.

Note:Β This is Squidoo only and does not count the earnings I will get from Amazon directly. This is literally the PayPal payment from Squidoo.

The ad pool earnings were just 12.88% and the Amazon earnings were 87.12%.

  • Of the lenses that earned money, 19 of those lenses earned less than $1.Β
  • Seven lenses earned more than $1 but less than $2.
  • Five lenses earned between $2-$5.
  • Eight lenses earned over $5 and under $10.
  • Four lenses earned between $10 and $20.
  • Two lenses earned over $20.

Now remember – this was when I was doing the Squidoo challenge and just now building up my lenses again. It’s growing. This month, the day after getting paid, I’m already at $180 in earnings halfway through the month. And that’s a February compared to a December – so I really hope that by next December I have plenty of lenses to do really well.

So from January to February, the payments increased by $57.32. I’ll take it πŸ˜‰ Set up the lenses, let them go and make more. I like the business model because it’s not continual upkeep.

Tiff πŸ˜‰

  • Hey!

Long time no comment – I couldn’t handle the PLR business (just not prolific enough I guess) so I kinda fell out of writing for a long time. But the Squidoo thing is starting to show some promise – it’s a little less demanding. Just a question – I tend to mix direct links to my Amazon associates account with Amazon modules on Squidoo. Are your earnings just from Squidoo or do they include direct Amazon earnings as well? Truth be told, my custom Amazon sales picture links convery much better than the Spotlight modules for some reason.

    • Tiffany says:

The ones shown here are Squidoo ONLY – not including my direct text links to Amazon. Those will be shown separately in an Amazon post but it’ll be a mix of Squidoo text links and links from my other affiliate sites. My text links convert better πŸ˜‰

      • Interesting that your text links convert better. I never seperated them based on a different Amazon tracking ID. I do sprinkle those throughout the lenses as well.

Sure wish Amazon’s cookies persisted longer…

        • Tiffany says:

I haven’t tracked specifically but I can see specific items promoted on my lenses that I’ve made more on in Amazon than on Squidoo.

  • Edie says:

I was going hot and heavy last year but got burned out on Squidoo. Looks like I better get back to creating new lenses!!! Great job.

  • Peggy Baron says:

Thanks for sharing, Tiff. Will you drop the lower earning ones at some point and concentrate on the bigger earners?

    • Tiffany says:

Nah even the 19 making under $1 earned almost $50, so that’s about what…$9 or so from those? Might as well leave them – there’s nothing else to do with them and they’ll probably earn a bit more during the Oct-Dec months πŸ™‚ I just look at my bigger earning ones and know those are good niches I want to go into more.

      • Priscilla says:

        Hi Tiff,

I’m a bit confused. What are ad pool earnings? And what did you mean when you said:

“Nah even the 19 making under $1 earned almost $50, so that’s about what…$9 or so from those?”

How do 19 lenses making less than $1 each make more than $19? And then where does the $9 come in? Sorry if I’m missing something obvious, I’ve read it a few times and I just can’t make sense of it.

  • Sunshine says:

    Hey Tiff,

I’ve been a bit out of the loop but noticed you mentioned selling your Squidoo properties with regret.

Just curious, why you’re regretting selling your lenses?

I want to get back up to speed on the whole IM landscape.

  • Sunshine says:

Good Lord. I would be regretting that too for a moment or two.

Take solace in the fact you’re a young spry tender, much like myself. We’re the same age:)

I have no doubt you will be back on the top earning side of things in no time.

    Go get ’em Tiff.

  • Mary Kathan says:

My December sales were better too. I think I am going to make a sheet and keep track.

I flipped one of my lenses since I got a good offer on it.

  • Steph says:

That is awesome! I’m noticing more coming in from Squidoo. I think doing that challenge back in October is really paying off.

  • Tiff,

Congrats! It’s so nice to see money coming in from something you spent less than a hour doing, but will continue to earn money from as long as the lens exists. I was happy and surprised to see my commission. I kinda like getting paid a month after, but I’ve forgotten all about November – lol.

Seeing a profit also makes you want to keep on going with more and more lens. I had someone buy a Vitamix blender yesterday and they sell for $300 and up. Can’t wait to see that commission in April. Funny looking forward to money in April from something I did in February, but it’s nice to know it’s coming.

Wishing us all continued Squid success!

    • Tiffany says:

Yes it is! Nice sale πŸ™‚

    • Bonnie Gean says:

      Congratulations on the sale, Cynthia!

I liked the idea that I got a commission payment from Squidoo, too. It was a nice surprise seeing that very first notice!

I have yet to mention it on my blog, but that’s only because I’ve been so busy creating other video tutorials. πŸ™‚

  • Ruth Stewart says:

I was pleased with this months payout, I have been working on Squidoo for about six months on and off. I love when I haven’t been looking at it for a few days and when I go back there is a sale. Lots of my lenses are for summer type products so I am hoping for a profitable time then.

Love the info here. Keep it coming! :o)

  • That’s really inspiring Tiffany. I’ve just started in Squidoo I’m doing your 52 To Squidoo Challenge now, and I’m having a lot of fun, not selling yet, but I’m enjoying it heaps.

  • Linda says:

I would be regretting selling lenses, too. Actually, I have considered it, then backed off. If I got a really good offer, it might be hard to refuse, but at this point, I am more interested in building my base of lenses.

  • dolores scully says:

Hi Tiff; Great job with squidoo. I am also just starting with that but have a concern. I am doing squidoo with Amazon reviews. But…I cant use PayPal as I have a “limited access” acct with them. Will that be a problem? I am an Amazon affiliate. thanks. Dolores

  • Sam says:

    Hi Tiffany:
Boy, looks like your Squidoo earnings are growing nicely. I wish I could say the same. Right now, my earnings are pretty low. I am working to put more lenses up, maybe that will help. I hope so. Take Care, Sam

  • Lisa H says:

Wow, that’ some nice earnings! Congrats!
I’ve been building a lot of Squidoo lenses lately – it got me out of being stuck and back working again.

It’s a lot of fun and I definitely see the potential.
But so far I’m not even making $10 yet, despite having 40+ lenses so far. Somehow none of them are ranking in Google and getting traffic.
I’ll go over your Quick Commissions guide again and double my efforts in the next weeks.

Are your top earning lenses selling higher priced products? And what kind of traffic are they getting – Google or Squidoo internal?

    • Tiffany says:

If you would like me to take a peek I will Lisa.

On my to lenses, the $20+ lenses, the products are about $13-$150 on one, $20-400 on another, and $10-$20 on the third.

Traffic is anywhere from 90-300 visitors a week. Here’s a breakdown of the last 30 days:

      Lens #3:
      Google 153
      Referral 134
      Direct 54
      MSN 7
      Ask 5
      AOL 2

      Lens #2:
      Referral 411
      Google 381
      Direct 241
      Ask 4
      MSN 1
      Bing 1

      Lens #1:
Referral 383 – I don’t know what these are because almost all the referrers listed say Google. LOL
      Google 140
      Direct 75
      Bing 4

      • Lisa H says:

Thanks, Tiff! That’s some nice traffic stats!
I think the referrals are users that are logged in with their Google accounts, since Google doesn’t send keywords for those any more.

It’s interesting that you have a top earning lens with very low priced products. I always thought they wouldn’t really work well.

Thanks for the insight – I think I need to work on getting more traffic, instead of thinking too much about price points and products LOL!

        • Bonnie Gean says:

My top Squidoo lens earner offers products between $17.99 and $35.

I would have to look at my overall stats, but I’m happy at the results. Another one of my lens that sells items between $15 and $35 had 6 sales in one day just this past week.

I’m using Tiffany’s Quick Commission Guide and it’s really panning out for me.

I did make some lenses with higher priced goods, but I don’t expect them to pull in sales until this Spring. You need warmer weather for those to sell well.

Keep plugging at it Lisa… You’ll get there.

  • Dustin says:

I actually sell Squidoo lenses as part of my overall business model. There are times when I regret selling them versus keeping them (I actually sold 300+ lenses last year).

This year, I am slowing down on the selling side and focusing more on building my own portfolio; the potential is just too great.

  • Bonnie Gean says:

I love your stats, Tiff. This gives me incentive to keep plugging away at adding more lenses.

I recently got a friend interested in making them too, although he isn’t doing as well as he expected. It does take time, but I am reminded that you can’t give up too early.

You never know which lens is going to produce better than another, but when they start selling it’s a feeling like no other!

  • Leanne King says:

You’ve inspired me to give my lenses some love. I have more lenses than you and sadly they are not making the same amount (or better). Better go love them up a bit!

  • Janet says:

I second Priscilla’s question Tiffany (which I don’t think you answered but may have missed it scrolling through)

The question was “I’m a bit confused. What are ad pool earnings? ”

    • Tiffany says:

You’ll have to look it up but it’s the money from the ads they place on your lens. Goes into a pool and you get a share of it I think.

  • Ann says:

Hi. Well, as I said in a previous post, I thought people made a load more on Squidoo but, you did explain that you had (regrettably) sold some money makers.
I have made nada, zilch, zero and, in fact I was very uspet to have received an email saying my latest lens – which took me hours to do – has been blocked due to “took much copying from other websites” or words to that effect. I was gobsmacked and it has in fact, spoiled the beginning of my day! Except for a couple of facts which I put in a blackbox and some lines about the technical part, it was all my own work! Of course, I have written to them but it has somewhat shattered my faith in them. Along with having earned nowt!!
I am sorry but I still don’t understand how you can use your Amazon Affiliate Link in a lens instead of using their GREAT STUFF FROM AMAZON thingy.

    Best wishes,

    • Tiffany says:

You just use a text module and put the HTML code for a text hyperlink in it – code that includes your affiliate link πŸ™‚ I’ll make a video on it.

      • Ann says:

Cool! That would be very helpful. I am a bit lost about the HTML code….. πŸ˜‰
I believe that $$ for a direct affiliate is higher than doing it through Squidoo, isn’t it?
BTW I have changed a bit of my lens, written to them so hopefully it will published.
        Best wishes,

        • Tiffany says:

Yep just google “html code text hyperlink” and copy that code, but wherever the domain URL is, swap it out for your hyperlink as an affiliate πŸ™‚ And yes, more $ for direct links.

          • Ann says:

Hi. Just wanted to let you know that I have heard from Squidoo and, after my email explaining and a bit of a tweak, it has been reinstated!! WTF πŸ™‚
Am so glad that I didn’t just give up – which was my initial reaction thinking Was it worth it? So, now I am following your guidelines in your “2010 Squidoo Lens Building Project” and hope to have at least one a week up.

            Best wishes,

  • Mitja Drame says:

First, congrats on your earnings. It’s nice to see people earning money through the Squidoo platform πŸ™‚ I find lots of motivation in this.

Yes, Squidoo sends earnings with 2 months delay. What you’ve earned in November you received in January. I’m looking forward to your posts about Squidoo to learn new tricks.

    All the best,

  • The changes this week at SquidHQ makes me a bit nervous about their knee jerk reactions.

I emailed you the list of links to read all the articles and the good blog posts about the real causes of the traffic drops etc over there.

I’m glad that you are seeing an increase in your earnings on lenses, I’m not, but this new thing was mentioned in another forum and I’ll post it here for your opinion, as many other SPQ challenge members may be reading forums and wondering too about how this will impact on our product display banners etc.

Something mentioned elsewhere about why someones account was shut down (someone who I think is a good guy from what little I know as a customer) … and gave this response to breach of Sq TOU:

    8. External software
You may not use external services, software or networks to automatically create or to augment your creation of lenses.

I know this would refer to the SENuke type of service/software that can spin articles and post them to web2 properties like Sq to make/create new lenses, and article directories etc.

I know it would also refer to the .exe thingy someone shared that can auto-build all your existing lenses every day to ‘help’ your rankings.

BUT… I’m now wondering if the reference to “Augment” could also include the wonderful SquidTools free banner building service that features products so beautifully …..????

Or FluffaNutta’s product banner and Amazon RSS feed services where you pay with every 10th click going to his ID.

Or does it just relate to the new FFS $5pcm service I saw promoted for “easy product displays” where banners were created and hosted on their site??

And so what happens to all the lenses we have that use any of the software generated banners when the autobot finds them…. can it tell the difference between auto generated eg: SquidTools banners, compared to hand generated using eg: Squid Pro Quo designed code….?

This is getting stickier by the minute…. its open to interpretation in lots of ways.

    • Tiffany says:

Yeah stuff like that often gets abused by scumbags so then it ruins the fun for everybody. I think Fluff is whitelisted from their tool mishaps because they have kind of approved his stuff to be used on Squidoo to my understanding.

I am always too lazy to do the automated build stuff – that or I just don’t like it – so I have always done things slower, manually. I sometimes have tried tools, like even Fluff’s but then I delete the tool and quit using it because handmade is just my preference.

That’s what I suggest going forward – use built in stuff and good content and you won’t have any problems. Take longer, but the mental anxiety is gone.
