Nutty Unsubs, GWC Success, Lost Lesson, Lens Builders

Hi everyone! Several things in today’s vlog. I show you a nutty unsubscribe – takes all kinds – but these are the ones you’re glad to have OFF your list. I talk about a Ghostwriting Cash student’s AMAZING order and success! I also explain how I chose 3 lens builders for some Squidoo backlinks and traffic and show you a sample of what they built. And, I go over a bit about what I’m currently studying “on the side” to make me a better teacher.

Watch here or read below:

So first I got an unsubscribe today from a nut. It says, “You are just another rip off get real or get out. Better get Jesus God hates lyars (sic).”

These are the kind you’re glad you got an unsubscribe from – they’re weird and off balance IMO. But also entertaining to read unsubscribes from.

Second, I talk about a Ghostwriting Cash student – I won’t mention names. She’s here so if she wants to claim it, more than happy for her to. But she got an order for 19 THOUSAND pages of content. How’s THAT for “earn while you learn?” I’m so happy for her and she’s a hard worker, currently pursuing PLR ATM and GWC among other things. A real example of a go getter. Congrats!

Third, I talk about how my bestperfumesforwomen2011.com site was bringing in about 150 uniques per day, ranking top of Google. Then it suddenly dropped out of the top 20 and brings in anywhere from 13 or so to 25 per day. No big deal – just let the Google dust settle and keep doing what you’re doing and it’ll rise back up. I don’t sweat this stuff. I do take actions to funnel more traffic its way though, which brings me to #4:

Fourth, I had TONS of people bid on my lens building job. Here’s how I chose 3 people to work with:

1.) I look at the samples they send – I want to see what the quality is as far as lens building. If they’ve studied 52 on Squidoo and know my style, that’s perfect!

2.) Can they write to my style? I liked the 3 styles I chose.

3.) To narrow it down more, as a business owner, you go with best price. But the above criteria have to be met first.

Here are the 3 lenses they initially built:

Best Perfumes for Women 2011

Calendars for 2011

eReader 2011

(Hint: That shows you 2 more of my 2011 sites – I’ll be revealing them all as I go).

holdonLastly, my mentor and friend, Craig Desorcy, sent me a great book called Hold On! You Lost Me! by Bernice McCarthy that I’m beginning. I normally am very picky about reading stuff like this, but so far am loving it.

It’s about how to teach people with their different learning styles. Here are a few good sentences that stuck out for me right at the beginning in the preface:

The more we travel a familiar path, the easier it is for us to travel it…Our biceps respond to repeated activity and so do our brains.

This is how I’m teaching my Mom! Repeat the activity of doing stuff – entering blog posts several times in a row. Learn it until it’s mindless, don’t worry about why and all the bells and whistles you could be doing – doing it caveman like – basic – at first and THEN put sprinkles on top on down the road.

Another one:

We tend to hang around longer in the parts of the learning process where the learning is easy and often avoid the parts of the learning process that call for stretching.

I agree! If you weren’t hung up on the “big picture” and the overwhelm that comes with it, you would get much more done and be far more productive.

She talks about several learning styles:

  • discussion and sharing
  • lecture and reading
  • hands-on problem solving

You have to do all 3 in Internet Marketing. But the last one is most beneficial. DO it, fail, figure out why ON your OWN, and then “get it” and move on.

The way professions are taught attracts those who have a way of learning that matches the teaching methodology.

So I’m going to try to incorporate a variety of learning methods in my courses to help everyone. I notice it works well with blogging now – people really appreciate the video and text choices.

Anyway – if you get it, it may help you with your niche courses. I’ll be talking about it in the coming weeks as I read it.

Stop Sitting on the Marketing Sidelines

Someone emailed me today and wow – she’s done a TON of research and studying about Internet Marketing but hasn’t gotten going yet. So here was my reply to her:

You sound like the kind of person who is so afraid of failing at this, you’re making sure every T is crossed and every i is dotted before you ACT. That’s usually a positive thing, isn’t it? But not in marketing.

You see, everything online can be tweaked, altered and fixed as you go. The problem is, some people never get going. It’s like sitting in a new car, making sure the lights are, the oil is right, the gears are perfect, etc. and never putting your foot on the gas.

You can get started with JUST a domain and hosting – nothing else. Heck, to be honest you could get started with a free Squidoo lens. If you don’t have hosting and a domain yet, and can’t afford it, then do a free blog yes – BUT the reason I always worry about free is that when you don’t own it, they can delete it without warning (happened to me once)!

On finding a topic….

This is another reason I tell people to become a service provider (ghostwriter) first. Not only are you making money, but you’re dipping your toe into a ton of niches and seeing how you like them. For instance, I always thought I’d like the relationship niche but after ghosting so many guides on it, I discovered I didn’t.

Health, Wealth and Relationships are the big 3 broad niches. But not the ONLY niches. And some people say, “Write what you know” but I almost went on the LPGA (women’s pro golf) and I find writing about golf BORING!

When you pick a topic, you have to have passion for it. And you have to be invested to be able to write about it a lot – because it doesn’t stop with an eBook. You have to write blog posts, articles, reports, emails, etc.

Check out the non fiction section on book sites.

Check out the ClickBank marketplace.

Write down about 5 ideas you think you might be interested in. Make an outline of a table of contents for a book. See if each one has a good domain available based on keyword research.

Maybe even start all 5 blogs to test the waters. Spend about 2 weeks blogging on each one and seeing how
you like the process, how your traffic picks up, etc.

Then narrow down your decision.

You may even change course after awhile but you will have learned how to do more things, so the second time will be faster and more enjoyable – less of a struggle.
