PLR

I want to talk to you about PLR in depth here today. Some still seem a bit confused about it all, so this will be a great tutorial for you if you’re not familiar with it or if you are, but worry about using it wrongly – or at all!

What is PLR?

PLR is content, software, graphics, and audio that you buy and have the right to alter and put your name on. Most people think of PLR in terms of text only, but there are video sellers, audio sellers, and software sellers as well.

Who should be using PLR?

Honestly, everyone who doesn’t have deep, deep pockets for a top notch ghostwriter who can continually churn out a LOT of content for you.  Marketers online need so much content – info products, opt in reports, viral reports, daily blog posts, article directory content, email autoresponder content, etc.

It’s especially helpful for those who have very little time and/or money to invest.

Why is PLR beneficial to your business?

PLR helps present you as an authority figure because your content will be all over the place. It helps you create constant content, feeding the Googlebots crumbs each time they stop by for a visit. It helps you stay in front of  (and brand your name to) subscribers. It gives you new things to sell, extra value to provide, and more sustenance to feed the marketplace.

Why do some people deem PLR harmful?

Because they’re all confused about “duplicate content.” I’ve read Google’s own words about this and it clearly states that they’re referring to content posted twice on your OWN domain, not content posted on multiple domains.

When should you edit and alter PLR?

Personally, as a PLR buyer, I edit mine all the time. But if you want to edit as little as possible, then here are some guidelines. Edit MORE when submitting to article directories. Stuff not going online for spiders to see (like opt in reports, eBooks, email autoresponders) – can be untouched. Blog posts, I might edit the title, intro and conclusion.

You can also use PLR that you disagree with. It’s great for that! Just have a blog post, for example, where you include your own dissenting viewpoint as a response to the PLR article you’ve posted.

Where can PLR be posted online?

Almost everywhere! Some people are more strict, like EzineArticles – but you CAN post it there if you’re the first to post it! You can use PLR all of the above ways – as info products you put on ClickBank, Amazon, PayDotCom, in autoresponders, as blog posts, as web content, article marketing, viral entities, even forum posts!

How much does PLR cost?

PLR should NOT cost you a lot UNLESS you buy a very limited batch – and even then it should come much cheaper than a ghostwriter would charge, where you could get 100% unique content. I like to go for $1 per page. I never buy the 1,000 articles for $0.05 deals – pure junk!

Should you join a PLR membership or buy from a non membership site?

I personally prefer a non membership site because I have seen too many problems with the other. The ONLY time I would even consider a membership site is if I could find one: a.) exactly and ONLY in my niche. If I’m in the dog niche, I won’t want health PLR the following money. b.) that’s VERY limited – no more than 50 members per pack. c.) that has a proven track record of long term happy customers. I don’t want a PLR provider who fails to deliver when I’m paying a monthly membership fee.

I hope this little crash course helped you learn a little more about PLR and how it might impact your business for the better. Of course, you can use ghostwriting too, but PLR is a good thing to have at your disposal.

Tips on Using PLR Content in Your Blog

If you own a blog for your business, one of the best ways you can monetize it, or boost revenue, is to use PLR content. You can find many types of PLR material being offered, and some of it’s perfect for use on your blog.

Almost any topic you can think of has some type of PLR content already made for inclusion on your blog. There are several ways that you can go about using the PLR content, but the one way NOT to use it is to stick it up on your blog just as you receive it.

You’ll need to make certain adjustments, or even rip it all apart and put it back together again. Does that sound too complicated?  Well, truthfully, it isn’t hard to do at all, and you’ll probably be surprised at how quickly it can be done.

You can purchase PLR articles and use them for content, after an initial amount of rewriting is done. Some people only change about 30% of the content, while I prefer to use the PLR content as more of a research tool.

Rewriting the articles doesn’t take very long, and they can be a great catalyst to break you out of writer’s block very quickly. After you have changed the articles, you can do one of several things:

1.) You can set them up to auto post to your blog, giving you extra content on a regular basis

2.) You can create a free report to give away as a subscriber freebie

3.) You can add a few more finishing touches to create a product for sale from your blog. By adding a few graphics and fleshing out the content you can have a new product up and running fairly quickly. Throw in a professional eBook cover and offer resale rights, and your product could fly off the digital bookshelf at a surprising rate!

Something that’s particularly hot in the IM industry now is video. By creating videos using the PLR content you buy, you can either put it on your site as a paid member’s only section, or offer the PLR rights to the videos.

If you’re a bit unsure about the video, then you can also recreate the PLR content as audio content. Creating PLR content for download into the iPod and personal MP3 players is a great way to get people to your blog, and you can also make it available as paid content.

People are already accustomed to paying for audio downloads, so they should have no qualms paying for yours. Using PLR content on your blog is a great way to not only attract visitors, but to feed the loyal visitors that you already have.

You can make PLR work for you, and boost your blog’s income. It’s all in using the PLR that’s readily available, and putting your own touches on it to make it unique. You can find Private Label Rights articles, report, and autoresponders for all kinds of niche markets on PLRMiniMart.com at about $1 a page.
