The Cost of Having an Info Product Created
What will it cost to have an info product created? Rates vary – writers overseas can charge much less, but their English skills might not be as good. Plus, if your eBook is going to primarily sell to Americans, you need to make sure they know the culture. My bird flu eBooks had to speak about the entire world, so I had to do added research. Plus, I’m a newshound, so that doesn’t hurt.
Back to cost – I charge $20 per page right now. Normally I charge $30 per page but I lowered my rates with the recession because I know that others are hurting and may not be able to pay my usual rate. I have clients who offer to pay me $40 per page just to fit them into my schedule. I accept.
Word of advice – writing to some may be a hobby. Writing to me is a career.
For audio and video productions, hire an expert. You don’t want to put together an amateur recording or video when you’re trying to position yourself as an expert. You only have 1 shot at making a 1st impression, right?
After you get the final product back, whether it’s a batch of articles, an eBook, or a DVD, package it. You want professionalism again – nothing hand-drawn. You can download software to create eBook images for your website but I recommend hiring a pro. Some people ask me about info product security. I’m not a fan of it. Why? Because you’ll create extra customer service issues for yourself.
People will buy at work and then email you because your system only allows one download and they need it at home, too. And if you’re worried about other marketers ripping you off, do you know how CHEAP it is to hire someone to transcribe a PDF file into Word? Dirt cheap – and they do it – so you’re not as protected as you think.
