Tiffany Dow Spam – Has It Happened to You?
Going to cover this so that hopefully if your blog or site or email has been spammed, you’ll get the answers you need. I recently discovered someone in a forum asking if their site had been spammed by Tiffany Dow yet. I can only see a cached version of the site for some reason, but it’s a live site so I’m not sure if Chrome is messing with me – I’d love to log in and reassure this person.
Then today – not sure if this was the same person or a new one – I got a threatening email from someone who said I had spammed his or her site repeatedly and they wanted revenge.
So let’s cover this, shall we?
1. I don’t spam. Ever. Period. End of story. I think spammers are scum suckers. I’m not a millionaire – but I bet I would be if I’d embrace this type of behavior!
2. If you are saying something like those people did, such as “so tired of her being hypocritical and teaching one thing and doing another,” ask yourself for an alternative possibility - like the fact that you’re wrong.
3. That alternative possibility is that someone is spamming and representing themselves AS me. Ohhh shiver – I know – it’s like an after school special, isn’t it? But unfortunately, hiding behind a computer screen, lots of weenies have bigger balls than they should – and they’re enlisting the 2 year old tactics (and by 2 I mean age of the person, not the strategy) to try to bully me back for being vocal against scummy people and scummy marketing methods.
Being vocal puts a target on your back – ever watched Big Brother? Anyway, it pisses people off – and I’ve obviously pissed off one or two eggheads. So they decided to get revenge by ruining my reputation, and making other IMers mad by thinking I was spamming them.
4. I don’t buy backlinks to people’s blogs. I only ever bought backlinks during a BTF review and it was a step in the review, but it bought profile listings on forums only – NO blog posts. I got an exact copy of where the profiles were created. No spam was ever posted IN the forums either – just a profile created, period. (I say this because others in the forum thought I should be careful who I buy backlinks from – I don’t – not even the profile creations! What a waste of money! It was during that review of BTF only).
5. There are some real assholes out there. I’m not one of them – unless you make me mad first. And online, people tend to jump to conclusions before they have facts (act now, get the truth later). But you have to slow down and simply…oh I don’t know…ASK the person you’re angry at before you start threatening and complaining about them.
Someone said these were spun articles pointing to my own domain. Others said they were probably using a tool called Scrape Box. I don’t know who it is or why they’re doing it. But it’s not me.
6. If you choose to ignore my facts and believe it’s me anyway, then there’s nothing I can do for you. I have no magic wand to make it stop – so track down the person’s IP or something. Be a little resourceful. Because it’s not me, but someone’s pissing you off – so you oughta find out who the real culprit it!
7. If I can help you in any way, like direct you to the Internet Crime Complaint Center which HANDLES Spam complaints - I urge you to do so! In fact, I encourage you to submit those spam issues there and let the FBI handle it! Since I know it’s not me, I have nothing to fear. But the real culprit will.

Something’s messing with you Tiff, but it’s not Chrome. I just logged into BlackHatWorld with Chrome, no problem.
The search function didn’t find the post you’re referring to until I registered, but that may be because I didn’t use it properly.
You DO have to register before you can post, though, and their TOS is loooooong. So good luck with that.
Btw, they accused you of spun comments not spun articles. Whatever.
What I can’t get is why someone would post links to YOUR site. What does that get them? Weird…
Ted
What’s the difference? LOL I dind’t know there was a content vs articles difference but there may be! Thanks – if they’re posting MY links them I’m 100% sure it’s a hater trying to get people pissed at me.
Oh wait, it just hit me.
It could very well be someone who posts here “backlinking their backlinks”.
It’s a current SEO strategy to leave a blog comment for a backlink and then backlink THAT page to increase the value of the original link.
I certainly wouldn’t accuse your readers of that sort of nonsense, but it IS the tactic du jour and the poster said they weren’t using your name, just a link to your site.
So…it could be anybody…well, anybody that’s been posting here for 3 years…
Oh, and it doesn’t have to be a commenter. Anyone with a link on this page would benefit.
Oh the tangled web we (they) weave…
Ted
Oh weird! I hadn’t heard of that – geez! LOL
One would have to be pretty busy to link back to ALL their comments on a “particular” blog. Maybe one or two IF it were significant, but not enough to stir up this kind of hoopla. I NEVER even thought of doing it.

Hi Tiff,
Try getting to the BlackHatWorld with a different computer. It could be that your IP is blocked for some weird reason. That is usually why you can’t get to a site that others can.
Also this site might help you track down your emailer. http://www.usus.org/elements/tracing.htm
It is an old site but it details how to read the email header and in it will be the IP address of the sender.
Scary stuff having someone threaten you. Keep alert!
Rhonda
yeah problem is the email came from ME because it came through my contact form. lol
lol. Well obviously my suggestion won’t help then…I missed that part
thanks for thinking of it though
Tiff is the contact form linked to Aweber? IF SO, contact Aweber and perhaps there is a way to track it. Just thinking on my feet or more accurately while sitting on my …..
I’ve seen an increase in so-called comments where the name of the person appears to be a real person and also did see my own name once or twice, or the link came from another post on my own site, but deleted it quickly.
I just thought something weird was going on and got rid of it as soon as possible.
Ted’s information at least gives me an idea why that happened.
You know what’s funny – I wonder what this person will do when they see THEIR own name on their spam comments? LOL!
So Miss Tiff….how we gonna work this whole new-found “spammer” identity into your brand my dear!?
LOL….just had to ask…
Hang in there!
Debi J
Well first thing I did was make a post to it that will hopefully dominate in the SERPs. On scroogle I’m now #1 and the forum asking about it is #8 so that’s better.
How do they say… ALL publicity is GOOD publicity EVEN WHEN bad! But I could do without this…
Years ago… Someone on one of my discussion lists at that time, got upset with me, they started a page on their site or a site (it was many years ago, I forgot about it until now – I actually think it was a section on their site)
They were not saying nice things about me, I think they did not like the way I was running the group, was really silly, non-the-less, I did not like it…
I contacted their host and their site got closed down. When it opened again it was MINUS my name!
I don’t remember if I received an apology or not.

Roz tapped into her Honey Badger!
I really like your wp template, exactly where would you down load it from?
I didn’t. A friend made it for me
