Video Tutorial on How to Add an Opt In Form to Your Blog
Hi everyone! Here is a video tutorial on adding the opt in form to TWO places on your blog. Now this uses Aweber, and they have that $1 first month, so if you want to GO FOR IT, grab it and follow along with my video.
Note: I upgraded my Camtasia and for some reason, it went 14 seconds of nothing and then the video starts. So I just wanted to point it out so you don’t think the video doesn’t work.
Enjoy!

Hi, Tiffany,
I appreciate the walk-through on the contact form, you really simplified the process.
Although I’m using GetResponse instead of Aweber, it should work the same once I get the html code, right?
Thanks, Tiffany. – Steve
Yes! It should
Tiff,
You can change the width in the HTML code. That’s how I have done it.
Thanks John! You guys always educate me with things I need to know. I’d have gotten a different opt in. LOL!
Thanks, Tiff! I knew how to do the widget one, but somehow the “after a post” one never occurred to me. That’s a great idea!
Is there a benefit to using the raw HTML instead of the Javascript snippet?
My sister Jeni taught me that – didn’t occur to me either! I’ve just always been told to use HTML so whatever works for you Katie
Hi Tiffany:
What a great post today. Adding an Opt-In form is something every blogger or website owner needs to have. It is the greatest thing to have to help build a quality list. Take Care, Sam
PS:
By the way, I have emailed you separately about my coaching call with Craig. He is such a wonderful guy.
That’s great Sam! Glad the call went well
Hi,
Love the smiley face and hand waving bit, Can you please tell me where to get one and how to add it as it rocks!
Also how the heck did a list of my artcles appear below just now with what appeared to be a rss feed sign! Wow!
I don’t know – my mentor gave it to me. Sorry… You’re probably talking about the CommentLuv plugin
Hi Lorraine…I see we have alot in common. My middle name is Lorraine and we’re both in the diabetic niche. Wanted to tell you that the cute waving hand guy is a gif image and that’s what makes him seem to move. You can save the image to your computer when you find it and attach it to your opt in box by entering the web address where you saved it. I taught myself how to do this today and believe me I am not a born techie. I have to read stuff about 10+ times before I get it. I put this cute little guy on my blog for now but am not sure he’s going to stay there. As cute as he is, he’s also sort of distracting when people are trying to read. I feel like if people are going to scroll down pretty quickly then that would work.
This should help everyone with their WP sites to Git ‘er Done… no excuses for not getting that form ready for list building.
I’m lucky though, as my SiteSell website hosting has everything in the one spot … love, love, love, their building hosting service and templates… so I don’t have to go through any of that stuff to create my ezine!
That’s great Helene!
Hi Tiff
The opt in that goes under your blog post – do you add hat manually each time you do a post?
Thanks
Shan
yep just part of the blog process. That’s why i keep it in notepad on my desktop. So when I choose a category and tag my post, I do that part.
Hi Tiff,
Great instructional post. I believe you can change the size of your Opt in form inside your WP text widget without needing to go back to Aweber. In the code you will see the dimensions for example 260×250. By changing a few numbers this will produce the size you need for your sidebar.
Thanks for the tips Tiff,
Randy
Oh thanks Randy!
RE: Camtasia
Hi Tiff:
In Camtasia… just “move” the Camtasia tracks over to the margin. I noticed “it does NOT” start at the margin when you first pull it in.
It’s simple, just make sure you pull both audio and video track together.
Roz
Ah thanks Roz!
Thanks for the tutorial Tiff.
When does the challenge start?
Monday Roz – you in? Even if not 5x a week?
For the longest time, I refrained from using the javascript code from Aweber. I’m unsure why.
Yet, these days, I find the javascript code is much easier to work with. When you use it, and go back into Aweber to make changes, the code is automatically updated on your site.
Unlike the HTML code, which you have to go back and copy to paste again. I prefer the script.
Have you ever used it, Tiffany?
Yeah I don’t know either – just taught from day 1 to use HTML. LOL! I know nothing about Java.
I use the java for the same reason…any time I make a change in aweber, as soon as I refresh my blog, the new form appears. With how many times I can change my mind, it’s a real time saver!
is there a tutorial post someone that you can point us to? thanks!
Tiff,
FYI There is no video in post just blank space. I also googled it and still no video. Don’t know if there is something else I have to do? I am really interested in how to do this. Any suggestions or is it just me.
Sandi
Hmm the video is there for me. Maybe try another browser? You might also find it direct on Vimeo at vimeo.com/tiffanydow
