Your Target Audience Is Mobile, Are You?
With more people on the go, mobile web is used because it’s fast, easy and fits into their lifestyle. People often use the mobile web to do things like:
- Stay updated on their stock portfolio
- Check sports scores (my husband does this a lot)
- Make online payments
- View up to the minute news
- Instant Message or email on the go
So, how do you reach your target audience via mobile technology?
Using mobile technology, your audience can stay up to date on your professional blog, your Twitter feed, and more. So it stands to reason that you should be providing information on the go, too.
You can Tweet your customers from your phone. You can integrate your Tweets with Facebook so that all of your fans and friends and followers are up to speed on where you are and what you’re doing throughout your day.
Sound a bit too stalkerish for you?
You don’t have to Tweet that you’re in the bathroom enduring a case of food poisoning. Just Tweet when you’re out and about and an idea strikes you.
You might be at the Supermarket and see some crazy advertisement that you feel could be morphed into an online strategy. Go back to your car, load the groceries, and post to your blog about it before you forget the details.
I know some marketers who don’t answer emails for days if not weeks. There’s no excuse for this! Not with mobile web tools. You can check email and stay on top of it so that it’s not overwhelming for you and your customer’s not left in a lurch wondering if you just took their money and ran.
You don’t even have to get a fancy Blackberry to do all this – most phone plans have some sort of data plan available and it’s well worth it if it means more interaction with your target audience so they stay tuned into what you have to say instead of surfing around to your competitors.
So who is it that’s going mobile more often? Scott Monty had a great post about this on his website – and if you read it, don’t miss out on the comments section on his blog – it has some great insight into who’s using mobility to tap into online information! That should spur you on with some good niche ideas!

It’s the future.
I haven’t so far. I need a big screen. I just carry my laptop around with me anywhere I go. LOL
